Construction Details
The installation of water and sanitary lines for Phase 3 of the Downtown Rehab Project has been completed! Crews are currently grading the roadway between 101 Street and 100 Street to prepare for gravel base, curb and gutter, and asphalt installation. On the second block of 100 Ave between 102 Street and 101 Street, gravel and sidewalk base concrete will be installed.

Pedestrian access has been fully restored on the second block of 100 Ave from 101 Street to 100 Street, and businesses on this block are currently using their front entrances!

Bear Creek Folk Festival Kick-Off
Thursday, August 16 the Bear Creek Folk Festival will be hosting a free outdoor concert on 101 Street in front of Better than Fred's. This section of road will be closed to all vehicular traffic during the concert, and traffic delays are expected.

RESTAURANT ASSISTANT MANAGER

We are looking for an Assistant General Manager at our Grande Prairie, Alberta location to ensure all daily activities run smoothly and efficiently. Assistant Manager responsibilities include ordering kitchen utensils and equipment based on our needs, managing contracts and payroll and supervising restaurant staff performance. To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with restaurant operations and have a good understanding of what makes great customer service. You should also be available to work within opening hours, including weekends and holidays. Ultimately, you will help minimize operating costs, boost our employee retention and deliver a positive dining experience for our guests.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate communication between front of the house and back of the house staff
  • Prepare shift schedules
  • Supervise kitchen and wait staff and provide assistance, as needed
  • Keep detailed records of daily, weekly and monthly costs and revenues
  • Arrange for new employees' proper onboarding (scheduling trainings)
  • Strategically improve labor and sales of store operations
  • Contact vendors and suppliers for materials or repairs
  • Gather guests' feedback and recommend improvements to our menus 
Requirements:
  • 1x years' experience as a Supervisor role in a similar environment
  • Good math and reporting skills
  • Organizational skills, experience meeting tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Results-driven attitude
  • A creative mindset
  • Ability to conduct research and analyze data

Bill 30 WCB Changes Seminar

The Government of Alberta's Act to Protect the Health and Well-being of Working Albertans or Bill 30 as commonly referred to was passed November 27, 2017. As a result, both the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workers' Compensation Act have improved to better protect workers throughout the Province.

The new revised Occupational Health and Safety Act came into effect on June 1, 2018 while enhancements to the Workers' Compensation Act have been implemented throughout 2018.

The Workers' Compensation Board - Alberta (WCB) will be hosting a FREE half day information session in Grande Prairie on August 29 discussing the impacts that these changes have to employers and workers alike.
