Worship and Wonder
resumes Sunday, August 19. Each Sunday, children age 4 through 2nd grade hear stories from scripture and learn about God while they are experiencing the presence of God. After Time for Children, a Worship and Wonder Greeter will meet children at the back of the sanctuary and guide them to the Children’s Worship Center. Following first service worship, parents and guardians pick up their children downstairs (room 128) at the Children’s Worship Center.
Promotion Sunday
is September 16
. This is also the first day of Sunday School for Children & Youth and Youth Group for grades 3-12.
Scholarship Available
Former First Christian Church members Dr. Richard and Lois Manahan have generously donated $1,000 to be awarded as a scholarship to a church member who attends Illinois State University. Full-time and part-time students attending ISU for the 2018 Fall semester are eligible to apply. Consideration will be given to active participation in the ministries and programs of the church. Please submit a letter of interest and your class schedule to the First Christian Church office by Monday, August 20. All applicants will be interviewed by a committee of the Trustees.

Prayer Groups
The Discernment Team, under the guidance of Scott Woolridge from our Regional Office, is launching an opportunity for one and all of us to meet in small groups during September, October, and part of November to share scripture, prayer, thoughts, and hopes with one another. We will be guided to listen to God, to know Him more deeply, and to see where He is leading us as we travel along His path together.
You are encouraged to sign up for a Prayer Group NOW! Find sign-up forms at the Information Center.

- Please see a note on the bulletin board in the Centrum from Mickey Drexler (Prayer Cards).
- The health screening committee for the block party would like to thank all the volunteers who worked on August 4 and all the years prior to this year. You have all been so gracious in donating your Saturdays through the years. Blessings to all of you.
- Sharon and I want to thank all of you for the many ways you have supported us and our family. It’s been nine months since Sharon’s spinal stroke, and I don’t know what we would do without you. You help us in so many ways: cooking meals, driving Sharon to therapy, shopping, doing laundry, giving rides to the kids, and doing so many, many other things. We are genuinely appreciative of, and humbled by, your kindness to us. We are blessed to be part of such a caring and loving church family. Thank you very, very much.
