No EXTENDED Care on Friday, October 18.
No Bus Days & Carpool next week
On Monday, October 21, carpool will resume. However, rather than using the parking lot to the right of the church (usual side), please use the parking lot to the left of the church. This will be for Monday only.Pending all things go to plan with fair deconstruction, regular carpool will resume on Tuesday, October 22.
Thank you, and Godspeed
Health Notes
Mrs. Avery, our school nurse, has initiated a new medical software called SNAP. SNAP will be her main source of communication and notification. SNAP correspondence is sent by email in real time. Each time your child visits Mrs. Avery, you will receive a notification. If you have not received SNAP information yet, you should shortly. You will receive two emails. One containing a password and the other containing your child's health record. You must use the password in order to view the record.
Save this password to use for all SNAP communications.
If you do not receive the email with the password, please check your spam/junk folder.
Red Ribbon Week
Do you have a Black Light that we can borrow for our Glow Party next week? If so, please
email Michelle DiBenedetto. Red Ribbon Week will be October 21-25. The following
attachment gives parents more information about this week.
Conference Days
As needed conferences are scheduled with parents of students in grades PreK-8. If your child's teacher does not request a conference and you would like to meet, you may request one. Students do not attend school on their scheduled conference day.
- Friday, October 18 - PK-5th Conferences; Middle School attends school
- Monday, October 21 - Middle School Conferences; PK-5th attends school
Picture Retakes - October 22
There are two different situations for Picture Retakes:
- Absent on Initial Picture Day - If a student was absent on the initial Picture Day, he/she should show up on "Retake" Day in Dress Uniform. If you do not have the original picture packet, please contact Wendy Lee in the office.
- Dislike picture/want another one - If your child needs another picture taken, send the child to school with the pictures you dislike. The pictures should be uncut; none should be missing. He/she should show up on "Retake" Day in Dress Uniform. The exact order will be placed again.
Even if you dislike your child and don't want any pictures of him/her, every child needs to have his/her picture taken for our records and for our Yearbook.
Grandparents Day Invitations
Grandparents Day is next month. All grandparents are invited to attend. A "Grandparents Day Invitation Request Form" went home with your child this week. Just in case your precious darling didn't give it to you, you can access the form
here. Please complete and return back to the office ASAP. We only need one form per family.

Fair Ride Bracelets
If you pre-ordered a Fair Ride Bracelet, your child will come home with a GREEN Voucher Thursday or Friday. Your child (or whoever wants to wear the bracelet) must present the Voucher at the FAIR RIDE TICKET BOOTH. The FAIR RIDE folks will place the bracelet on the child. Both Voucher and wrist must be present to receive the bracelet.
If your child was absent Thursday or Friday, please visit the MBS Money Booth during Fair hours and tell the volunteer you need to get a pre-ordered bracelet voucher. Then you must go to the FAIR RIDE TICKET BOOTH to have the bracelet attached to the child.
If a friendly neighbor, grandparent, or non-mbs parent ordered the bracelet, you may find the voucher at the Money Booth.
Student Fair Performance Schedule
Several of our students will perform at the MBS Parish Fair on Saturday, October 19. Kindergarten through Fifth Grade will perform; our choir and band will perform; cheer, pep squad and dance teams will perform. A schedule of the performances is
here. Students should meet behind the stage and look for their grade level poster.
MBS Fair - Wine Pull
We are excited to announce that we will have a Wine Pull at the Fair this year. We just need help to stock our booth. Please see the
attached signup to help us out. No, you cannot drink the bottle at the fair...it's to be used on stressful homework nights.
|
EXTRA PARKING FOR THE MBS FAIR WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE WOODLAWN HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT. THERE IS A GATE TO WALK THROUGH FOR ATTENDANCE TO THE FAIR OR FOR MASS.

Office of Child Protection
|
|
According to the Safe Environment Policy mandated by the Diocese of Baton Rouge, all church parish and school ministry volunteers/chaperones must complete a mandatory background check and child protection training. Please note that MBS School child protection requirements are not the same as MBS Church Parish. Therefore, if you are compliant for the Parish, you are not automatically compliant for the School, and vice versa. It is important to remember the child protection paperwork is time sensitive. If you began the process, but did not complete all the steps in a timely manner, you may have to resubmit the paperwork. Many files have been archived due to inactivity, and/or files not being updated.
Please contact Mrs. Landry at 225-753-5526 or email
childprotection@mbsbr.org
for assistance in receiving the required paperwork or to check on your volunteer status.
Remember that Child Protection credentials allow the holder of these credentials the opportunity to chaperone/volunteer at MBS Parish and/or School. All credentialed adult volunteers must abide by the sign-up and confirmation process for each event.
Chaperone and Volunteer Requirements Agreement 2019-2020
Those adults who have completed the Safe Environment and Child Protection requirements and have been cleared to volunteer at MBS School must complete the Chaperone/Volunteer Requirements Agreement form each year prior to volunteering. The agreement form is an overview of the responsibilities and requirements of chaperones and volunteers. This form will stay in the child protection file and must be updated each school year. Please find the file
attached
for your convenience.
