Music Master Incentive Program
The Music Master Incentive Program is designed to encourage and nurture a consistent practice routine through short term and long term incentives. The goal is to train musicians up with good practice habits and give them ownership of their music experience. The duration of the program is September through first week of December… a total of 14 weeks.
Musicians who complete required practice assignments AND have parent signature on the practice log every week will receive the
PRIZE
of the week!
Starting the 1st week in September, a student will have to complete 5 out of 7 days of practice, which needs to be logged and signed in their practice binders. The required time for practice, in order to receive credit for that day of practice is as follows.
Ages 3-5= 15 minutes/day
Ages 6-11= 30 minutes/day
Ages 12+= 45+ minutes/day
When they complete their 5+ days of practice each week, our musicians will receive a teacher signature on our chart in the waiting room that will entitle them to a raffle ticket for the winter recital raffle drawing.
That means each musician has the potential of 13 raffle tickets per instrument! We will have some exciting large prizes given out at each of our winter recitals, where we will draw tickets from the raffle.
This program is in place to encourage consistent practice with both teacher and parent involvement, and is here to help motivate students to put their best foot forward each week.

This month's Musician Spotlight is on a pair of brothers... Gabriel and Caleb Romero. They are starting their 3rd year with Temecula Music Teacher.
Gabriel is 14 and started with acoustic guitar with teacher Jon Steinmeier. He enjoyed it so much he added electric guitar. This past year he expanded his music education to include piano as well with teacher Vickie Hinrichs. He has explored learning the same song on both the piano and guitar... a fun and challenging experience.
Caleb is 13 and has been studying drums with teacher Jon Steinmeier. He has learned very quickly and enjoys the "study" of the drum sequences as well as the drum scores in songs. He often finds songs on his own and teaches himself from what he has learned as a student.
Both boys have started to practice songs together in the garage and are having a blast rockin out!

We are excited to have Miss Shantelle Ruppel back teaching with us! She will be filling in for Miss Ashley's maternity leave in October for 4-6 weeks.
Shantelle taught for us back in 2015, and was an extremely successful teacher at our studio with number of students that loved taking lessons from her, as well as the musically proficient outcome in all of her voice, piano, and flute students. After compl
eting her Music Education degree, she moved out of state in late 2015 to pursue her Masters Degree, and now she is back to serve our studio as an excellent teacher.
Aside from music, Shantelle enjoys writing and has just recently published her first book. She loves reading, writing, and of course, teaching students of all ages is a passion.
We are so pleased to have her back in Temecula!

This month's Teacher Spotlight is on Zaul Lizalde.
Zaul is one of our new teachers but has been teaching privately for about three years. He enjoys taking students from a novice level and stretching them to their greatest potential. Zaul has a wide variety of teaching abilities. At our studio he teaches, guitar, bass, drums, piano, ukulele, composition, recording, production and voice.
At a young age he fell in love with music... he started to put the elements of music together first by looking at guitar tablature and learning chords. Because he moved a lot the guitar became the only constant thing in his life besides family. From there he began expanding his music interest to other instruments.
What draws Zaul to music is that it is universal and unites so many people together. Also, music pulls from him his best and is a discipline that challenges you to become more than you are at the moment.

This month's Instrument Spotlight is the
Violin.
Q: What instrument family do you belong to?
Violin: I belong to the string family... I am the smallest and have the highest pitch in the family.
Q: How many strings do you have?
Violin: I have 4, the E, A , D, G
Q: How do you make music?
Violin: I am placed under the the chin and held with the left hand. A bow is strummed across my strings and the fingers are placed on specific spots on the strings for notes.
Q: When was the first violin made and where did you come from?
Violin: I have been around since the 16th century. I am from Italy.
Q: What are some interesting facts about you?
Violin:
My name ‘violin’ comes from the Middle Latin word ‘vitula’ which means stringed instrument, and my nickname ‘fiddle’ comes from the Old English word ‘fithele’.
- A Stradivarius violin made in 1707 was sold for US$3.5 million at an auction in New York in 1998. The violin is one of only 620 original Stradivarius violins left and had the nickname ‘The Hammer’ because its first owner was a Swedish man named Christian Hammer.
- A person who makes or repairs violins is called a luthier and an archetier makes the bow. Amazingly, it can take up to 200 hours to make a good-quality violin!
- Modern violins are constructed from over 70 pieces of wood.
- Violin strings were originally made from the lining of the intestine of a sheep, goat, horse or pig. Now they have a synthetic nylon core encased in steel or aluminium.* *(forteachersforstudents.com)
