Impact 100 Chicago

September 2018 Newsletter

I'm stunned that it is already September! This means a new Grant Cycle year has begun, and I'm excited about all the changes that we have put in place. As communicated a few months back, our Grant Cycle dates have shifted forward in order to accommodate requests we have had from our membership. An outline of the new calendar is listed below, so take note of important dates and deadlines.
Membership/Recruitment events are in full swing. Our membership committee has been hard at work to create some great opportunities that you won't want to miss. Please attend and bring some friends so that they can learn about the great work that Impact 100 Chicago does. The recent event at St. Leonard's Ministries was fantastic, and I'm looking forward to the event at Elgin Community Crisis Center.
Believe it or not we are already accepting Letters of Inquiries (LOIs)!  Submissions will close in a few weeks, and in October we will start the grant review process. We have settled on locations for our Grant Review Committees; however, we are still looking for two GRC chairs.
Finally, we also have had changes to our Board of Directors. Several of our board members' term limits have been reached, and with that we needed to fill several positions. I would like to welcome Reena Saluja, Pragna Patel and Sue Key to our leadership. I'm looking forward to working with each of you! However, this also means that we need to say goodbye to three ladies who have guided this organization for many years: Karen Hoelscher, Mindy Winkel and Michele Polvere. Thank you for all your dedication to Impact 100 Chicago!
With change comes growth.  I'm looking forward to another great Grant Cycle year as we continue to create change and impact in the Chicagoland area!

Grant Review Committee (GRC)
Leadership Opportunities
With our  new Grant Cycle, it's time to finalize our Grant Review Committees (GRCs)!

We are working hard to expand our membership in the greater Chicagoland area. The Impact 100 Chicago Board is establishing Grant Review Committees in five locations for the 2018-2019 Grant Cycle:
*Arlington Heights;  *Barrington;  *Chicago;  *Northbrook; and  *Oak Brook.

We need volunteers to chair committees in Arlington Heights and Chicago; these GRC chairs will determine the day and time of their meetings.

Chairing a GRC is a wonderful opportunity to become educated about the needs in our local communities and play an important role in Impact 100 Chicago's rigorous vetting of nonprofit grant applications.

GRC sign up will begin on October 1: consider taking a leadership role!

For more information or to indicate your interest, please contact Sue Key.

Thank you!

A Wonderful Sunday with St. Leonard's Ministries

On August 19, members and guests of Impact 100 Chicago, along with residents of St. Leonard's Ministries, shared a day of service. We toured the St. Leonard Ministries' grounds, classrooms, and men's quarters. We were fortunate to have a few of the residents tell us about their life experiences and how St. Leonard's Ministries has allowed them to heal and grow.

Our group split up into two groups: one group sorted and cleaned a clothing closet. Clothing, food, and shelter, along with special programs are available when anyone arrives from prison.

The second group painted a fence that runs along the street of the men's residence. This work included learning a unique sponge method of painting.

Lots of sharing and laughter happened throughout this afternoon.
Thank you to all who joined us for this special day.

Without question, helping each other makes an Impact!
