Spring Celebration was a huge success!
Thank you
to everyone involved: the many volunteers sharing their time and talents to create a successful fundraiser, those that came out last Thursday to party, and those that donated items, bought raffle tickets, and sponsored. Through such varied support, we were able to raise
$36,346.81!
And the raffle baskets made an additional
$3,549.48
for the teachers! We have met our fundraising goal and this means we can continue to provide the same level of services to Hyde Park School next year!! Thank you, HPS Community!
The
Spring Celebration video
that Jessica Hughes created and shared with us at the event was a fun representation of Happy Hyde Park School! If you missed it, check it out

**PTO is still searching for candidates to lead our fundraising initiatives for next year!!
Ideally this will be a Co-Chair position, so you will have a partner to share in the responsibilities. Those stepping into this position will be mentored by the current Fundraising Chair. S/he will receive full support from the President & Vice President and will also have volunteers to help with each fundraising activity. For us to continue to support Hyde Park School with funds for field trips, in-school programming, and classroom materials, it takes people who want to lead these efforts. Please consider being one of those people!
THANK YOU!

Staff Appreciation Week is May 7th - May 11th
We have the absolute best staff here at Hyde Park School and this is the week to show our appreciation! For all they do for our children, let's pitch in and make this a wonderful week full of our gratitude.
There are many ways you can participate and volunteer. Please follow the link to see how you can be a part of this week's events.
Monday, May 7th- Continental Breakfast
We need lots of breakfast item donations to make this a success. Please use the below link to sign up to bring something in.
Tuesday, May 8th- Flower Gifts
Bring in a bouquet to support our staff! Flowers and bouquet fillers are needed as donations from all our parents! Flower collection will take place the morning of Tuesday, May 8th at drop off. All donated flowers will be arranged into small bouquets and delivered to each staff member.
The below signup link is for the resources to help collect flowers and create the flower arrangements out of the donations. We ask that all HPS families consider donating flowers.
We are also requesting a call out for any unused and unwanted vases that people would like to donate for staff appreciation week. They can be dropped off to the office between now and Tuesday May 2nd by 8:15am.
Wednesday, May 9th- Staff Luncheon
A PTO-sponsored catered lunch will be presented to all staff members. On this day, we will need a couple volunteers to help setup before the lunch and cleanup after the lunch. Dessert donations are also being requested. Time slots are listed on the link below.

Field Day Donations
It takes a lot to feed, hydrate, and shelter 530+ kids on a warm May day! This is why we need YOUR donations. The list may be long, but if everyone pitches in just a little, we can do this. Thanks to some super generous corporate and family sponsors, the kids will be feasting on pizza from LaRosa's, cookies from BreadSmith and snow cones from Patty's Popcorn. We ask that you consider donating, or letting us borrow, an item off of the list below and fill an outstanding need.
oranges/bananas
ice coolers
water coolers
pop-up tents
plastic cups
ice
We will collect all donations and items the day before, during morning drop-off. Please sign-up today!
Thank you!

RESCHEDULED
Hot Topic Discussion -
Coping with Test Anxiety
The new date is
May 1
@ 6:00 pm in the gym.
Does your child get worried about standardized testing?
Would you like to support your child through the testing process in April?
Our mental health partner agency, The Children’s Home of Cincinnati, will be providing an hour-long workshop for parents on the topic of test anxiety. The hour will be interactive, and participants will learn about the symptoms of test anxiety and how to empower yourself and your child to overcome this stress.
It will be led by Alison Savage, LPCC-S, who specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents. She has been with The Children’s Home for over 7 years and is currently the Clinical and Professional Development Supervisor.
Please join us on May 1 from 6:00-7:00 in our school gym.

Hyde Park School Library Books
As the end of the school year approaches, please start looking for any HPS library books around your home. They will have a white sticker on the spine that says 'Hyde Park School Library' and can be returned to the bin in the library at any time. For a list of books your child has currently charged out, please email
maggiemucha@gmail.com

Lost and Found Spring Update
Has it been awhile since you last saw your child’s jacket? Have you been wondering where that book could have ended up? The HPS lost-and-found is once again bursting at the seams. We have hundreds of items waiting to be reunited with their owners. When you are visiting HPS for spring concerts, assemblies, volunteering, or any other time you are at the school, please check out the 4 tables set up near the school gym, all full of items. Or, for your convenience, browse through these pictures of the items online.
This link will bring you to an album of shirts, vests, and jackets:
This link will bring you to an album of everything else—gloves, hats, socks, sashes, books, water bottles, lunch boxes, a pair of pants, and so much more! Check it out for yourself:
Please note: all lunch boxes and water bottles pictured are on display in the school cafeteria, not on the tables by the gym.

Come Support HPS Soccer!
Despite the weather, spring soccer is underway. Our fields may be flooded, there may be snow, but that doesn't stop these kids! We've gotten creative and practiced in the school gym, in the parking lot, and at every park around the city. The key is we're having fun and improving our skills. Come and cheer on the Hyde Park Eagles. Games are played at several fields in the area every Saturday and Sunday. See you on the sidelines!

HPS at the FCC game!
Thanks for all that came to the game last weekend! It was fun to see so many HPS families in the bleachers and on the field, too!
