Summer Sunday Is Under Way
Be reminded that from now till Labor Day we'll be doing Sundays a bit differently. The schedule is simple: worship at 10:30 in the sanctuary (and no classes), with lemonade following. There are variations on that theme for a couple of Sundays, August 19, when we will also have a forum after worship telling about needed organ repairs, and August 26, when we won't just have lemonade, but a picnic. Stay tuned for details on those Sundays. But go ahead and mark your calendars for 10:30 on Sundays.
And here are three more suggestions for our Summer Shift:
  • Dress cool and comfortably - like it's summer!
  • Be sure to meet someone you don't know. With our two services combined, there will be some new faces for us all.
  • And think about someone you can invite to worship

St. Giles Kids in August...

We're going to try and keep things simple and
cool for our St. Giles families this August, with plenty of time for fellowship and to enjoy this last month of summer...

  • Sunday School for adults and kids will be on break, and we'll worship all together in the sanctuary at 10:30 each Sunday.
  • Kids Own Worship for grades Kindergarten - 5th grade will also take a break in August, allowing our kids the chance to worship with their families during the entire service. This is a wonderful chance for us to help our kids learn how to worship with the larger church. For helpful hints on how to help your children survive & thrive in "Big Church", read here: Helping Your Kids Survive & Thrive in "Big Church".
  • Nursery care for infants through Pre-K will continue to be available in the Rainbow Room Nursery.
  • Drama Camp is coming up the week of August 13-17! We're all full, praise God, and would greatly appreciate your prayers for God's blessing to cover the week!
  • There are lots of chances for us to fellowship with our larger church family this month! See Pastor Keith Hill's blog post for more details:  https://presbykh.blogspot.com/2018/07/synching-up-life.html
  • Questions or concerns? Don't hesitate to contact Heather Agnello, Director of Family Ministries, at hagnello@stgiles.org or at (804) 281-9763, ext. #14.
We're Building a Wall - Praising God for Answered Prayer!
HAS GOD ANSWERED YOUR PRAYER? Let us know about it!!

Look for a new bulletin board - in the hall outside of Common Grounds -- where you'll find a place to post your answers to prayer! Maybe it was a request made known to the Prayer Chain. Or maybe God answered prayer from a small gathering of friends, or your Life Group. Or a personal prayer answered, just between Jesus and you.  We're making a place to jot a brief shout-out to God -- for the great things he has done. Check it out!

SERVERS NEEDED

Wednesday Night Suppers start back in September and additional servers are needed to dish up salads, plate foods and portion desserts.

Servers volunteer on a Rotation basis, approximately 5x throughout the year from September through April.

The only requirement is that you are able to join the Kitchen Crew at 5 PM to help Chef Donna with last minute preparations. The serving line opens at 5:45.

This is a great idea for Life Groups and small group members, and lots of FUN!!

You can sign up on the Connection Card with contact information and Jane Harler will be in touch. If you're a small group/Life Group leader interested in putting a team together, let Jane know.
