Garret County Officials and the Department of Natural Resources have agreed that the $250,000, which was previously approved for Deep Creek Lake dredging related matters in the 2016 legislative session, will be reallocated to study the sedimentation processes in DCL and develop a sediment mitigation/remediation plan. This methodology should insure that if/when actual dredging is performed, work will have been done to insure further sediment build up does not occur right after it is removed.
Garret County officials plan to work with Legislators regarding possible additional funding for dredging.However, it is not anticipated that any dredging will occur in the near future.
