Parenting in Today's World Book Group

Parents, grandparents, teachers - really anyone who is connected to children - are invited to participate in a book study of Raising White Kids: Bringing Up Children in a Racially Unjust America by Dr. Jennifer Harvey.  This book provides the foundation for wrestling with our own bias, prejudice and leads us to examine the racism prevalent in our society along with sharing tools that we can use to support our children as they develop their racial understanding. Rev. Catherine Stark-Corn will facilitate the groups.   Two groups are scheduled, group size will be limited, you can sign up here. Additional groups can be created as needed.

Sundays June 21, 28, July 5, 12 4:30 - 6:00 pm
Tuesdays, June 23, 30, July 7, 14 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Questions? Interested but the schedule does not work for you?  Contact Catherine

Backyard Bash: Seek and Find and Ice Cream
June 17,  6:00 - 7:30 pm

Families are invited to our Backyard Bash - Seek and Find in the church yard followed by an ice cream treat in the backyard. This is a come/go event-arrive by 7:00 to take part in the activities. We invite you to bring a picnic dinner and eat in the backyard before you begin the activity.

Families are asked to bring: masks for each family member 4 or older. We will have a seek and find hunt around the church yard. Families are asked to stay together and spaces will be socially distanced. Access to restrooms will be limited.

We all have a different comfort with beginning to be in public groups so we are asking all to adhere to:
  • keeping your family together in their socially distanced space
  • wearing masks as your come and leave
  • follow-signs for enter and exit

This Week in Worship

Until further notice we will be gathering for worship via live streaming only. We invite you to worship by clicking  here  (scroll down to where it says Live Streaming) during the time you would normally attend worship, at 9:01, 10:00 or 11:00 a.m. The worship service will be the same at all three times, and will be a blending of our worship styles, including music, scripture, a moment for children, communion, prayer, and sermon. We invite you to have a bit of bread and juice ready so that we may share in communion.

Service Learning Summer Camp

Those who have completed 3rd through 5th grades are welcome to join us for Service Learning Camp,  June 22 - 26 .  We will spend the mornings working with our service partners in the Kansas City Metro area. Children are welcome to join us from 9-12, please bring $5 for lunch, we will be eating lunch in the communities we are working with! Watch for an email tomorrow.

Many of you have had the chance to send a note or picture to one of our church members who may be isolated and unable to connect with others much these days.  If you have not and would like to connect - let April know and we will get a packet to you.    If you have been corresponding let us know how it is going.  We are hearing members reaching back out to their pen pal family - truly building connections!! If you did send one note or picture and would like to send another but do not have the address - we can get you that information.
