Stallions in the Spotlight

SFD alumnus Travis Jackson '10
was our keynote speaker at last Tuesday's Senior Spirit Day.  After receiving his bachelor's degree from Michigan State and finishing an outstanding football career for the Spartans, Travis returned to Columbus to work as an Account Executive with the IT Consulting Company Brooksource. Aligning his message with the theme for the school year, "Let Your Light Shine," Travis spoke to the students about how they can shine bright in their senior year. From something as little as smiling at someone in the hallway and asking them how their day is going, to trying a new activity that they haven't been involved in, to challenging themselves and their peers to be the best they can be, Travis encouraged our seniors to remember the impact that can have on each other and the school. He reminded them that above all else, your attitude and how you treat others is what your legacy will be, and hopes they will take this message to heart for the 2018-2019 school year and beyond.

This summer senior Coco Ren had the opportunity to meet one of her role models, Boston Globe investigative journalist Sacha Pfeiffer. Prior to her visit, Coco recalled, "
I was tossing and turning the night before we visited the Boston Globe, thinking about all the questions that I desperately wanted to ask her. As we were walking through the public office areas, the sound of fast click-clacking of the keys was just like my heart beat. With a long time of hesitation, I asked Sasha how to keep my passion toward journalism. She said something that I will never forget, 'being a journalist is like a lifetime student, always learn something new everyday.'"

An awesome group of dedicated students in Mrs. Scott's AP Physics class (unofficially) started their senior year today!

Members of the Astronomy Club met at Delaware State Park to watch the annual Perseid meteor shower.

Congratulations once again to our 2018 Boys Lacrosse State Championship team. It was wonderful to celebrate with the team, coaches, family members and special guests last night.

Daily Reflection

Immaculate Virgin, Mother of  Jesus  and our Mother, we believe in your triumphant assumption into  heaven where the  angels  and saints acclaim you as Queen. We join them in praising you and bless the  Lord  who raised you above all creatures. With them we offer you our devotion and love. We are confident that you watch over our daily efforts and needs, and we take comfort from the  faith  in the coming resurrection. We look to you, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. After this earthly life, show us Jesus, the blest fruit of your womb, O kind, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary.
