Attend a Big Future College Visit to explore colleges and universities by region. Your goal is to have your list of 5-7 colleges/universities you know you will apply to by the time you leave for summer vacation. Your list should include 1-2 reach schools, 1-2 safety schools, and the remainder should be realistic.

NAU Indigenous Visit Days
Indigenous Visit Days will take place from March 8th-11th and 13th. These events will be a time for prospective students to discover how NAU honors cultures through academic and personal development, learn about the Office of Indigenous Student Success, courses in Applied Indigenous Studies, scholarships and financial aid, and balancing culture with education. Registration for this free event is now open, and students and families are welcome to register here.

United States Naval Academy Opportunities
 
USNA Summer Seminar
Current high school juniors considering the United States Naval Academy for their college of choice. Applications are due March 31, 2021, for one of 3 six-day sessions in June 2021.

USNA Summer STEM
Students entering 9, 10, or 11 grade for the 2021-2022 school year with a strong interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics who would like to create, problem solve, and collaborate with peers from around the nation at one of the top public colleges in the country. Applications are due March 31, 2021, for a six-day session in June 2021.

Student Opportunities
TMCC Summer Bridge Program

Originally, the program dates were July 6-August 12, 2021, but TMCC decided to move the program up one week. The new program dates are June 28-August 5, 2021. The dates have been updated on the website and program application. The
program will remain Monday-Thursday, 9am-3pm for the six weeks. There are great benefits to this program, including:

  • Income-qualified students will earn an $800 award ($400 in the Fall, $400 in the Spring) for successful completion of program requirements.
  • Free college classes, books, tutors, and lunch during Summer Bridge.
  • Assigned a Success Coach during the first year at TMCC to review progress and gain support.
  • Priority registration during the first academic year.

Seniors Interested in Medical Careers and Phlebotomy

The Medical Skills for Life Institute offers a 13-week Phlebotomy/Lab assistant course, 4
days a week, 3 days on line for 4.5 hrs a day in the evening 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm, and one
day on-site for testing/hands. They also offer CPR classes and 12 L EKG 4 day program.
They are an institute partnered with Join.org for financial aid to those who qualify.MSFLI also offers interest-free in-house loans that can be paid off with a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payment plan, for those who do not qualify for financial aid. Students wanting to enroll in MSFLI must be at least 18 years of age, possess a state ID and have a HS diploma or equivalency. Click HERE for more information.

Boston University's Summer Journalism Academy consists of two week-long sessions that begin on June 21, July 5, and July 19. American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)
AISES is a national, nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing opportunities for American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, First Nations, and other Indigenous peoples of North America in STEM studies and careers.

One of the ways AISES strives to meet their mission is through the numerous scholarships that are provided for AISES members (membership is free to all pre-college and college students). AISES scholarships are all merit-based and range from $1,000 to $10,000 an academic year and are available at the college and graduate level. The applications open on December 15 of each year and close on March 31 of the following year.

Cobell Scholarship, Administered by Indigenous Education, Inc.
The Cobell Scholarship program provides elevated opportunities for American Indian and Alaska Native college students by empowering them with an engaging scholarship experience designed to support their success in higher education.

Vocational, undergraduate, and graduate-level students are encouraged to apply. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. federally recognized tribe and be attending a nonprofit institution.
