Alumni Association Executive Council update
|
|
Greetings fellow alumni,
It’s hard to believe that we are already into February, and despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic – the work of our Alumni Association Executive Council continues to move ahead.
As a council we meet four times a year, and act as an advisory body to Georgian. The college ensures we are kept up-to-date on what is happening at our alma mater, and we act as representatives of our global alumni community – providing feedback and input which is regularly shared with the appropriate programs and leaders.
We have several members of our council who will complete their terms this June, and we are now accepting applications to fill these council vacancies. The new two-year council terms will begin in September 2021.
Are you a proud Georgian graduate, looking for meaningful ways to engage with our college? Would you like to leverage your alumni relationships to support the efforts of our college and alumni-related priorities? If so, this may be the opportunity for you! Visit us online to learn more about our council, and to read more about this exciting opportunity.
Our council is strongly committed to diversity and especially welcomes applications from racialized persons / persons of colour, women, Indigenous / Aboriginal People, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+ persons, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas.
Arjun Batra, class of 2007
Chair, Alumni Association Executive Council

Did you know that Canada officially began recognizing February as Black History Month in 1995? Jean Augustine, a Member of Parliament (MP) from Etobicoke-Lakeshore put forth the motion, and it was passed by MPs in the House of Commons.
Throughout the month of February, Georgian has a lot of planned content on its website to celebrate Canada’s rich black history and this year’s theme The Future is Now. The first article is a comprehensive look at recommended resources.
