ACEnet Business Spotlight: Talcon Quinn

In an age where it can be difficult to navigate ethical purchasing choices, Talcon Quinn makes jewelry, leather, baskets & herbal formulas exclusively from materials that are ethically & sustainably harvested & processed. She makes sure each item carries no "soul tax," which she describes as a spiritual tax that is put into the cosmos when an object is created by unfair labor, unethically collected, or is processed with toxic chemicals, or if a seller is dishonest about how a product was obtained and the manner in which it was treated and cared for.

Talcon is not only the designer and craftsperson of these beautiful pieces of adornment,  she is also the gatherer and processor of the materials. These marvelous pieces help one carry their connectedness to the natural world as a reminder to make choices that respect all life.

Talcon shares these skills by teaching classes at her home, gatherings and folk schools around the country. She is very enthusiastic about sharing traditional skills, insuring that they live on. To sign up for upcoming classes or see if Talcon can teach near you, email her at reachout@talcon-quinn.com. You can view her bags, necklaces, earrings, baskets, buckskin clothing, hides, rosaries, bolos, and apothecary items on her website and Facebook page.

In February, Talcon is hosting a Wicker Basket Weaving workshop with daily yoga classes at The Brickhouse Apothecary in Pomeroy, see Facebook event for more info.

Butcher's Bites, OU Men's Basketball & Athens County Sheriff's Department!

Butcher's Bites teamed up with Ohio University's Men's Basketball team this summer to  provide the players with 8 weeks of healthy, locally prepared meals to help them get more physically fit! The team  approved of their test kitchen creation: Blackened Chicken Broccoli Alfredo, so we may get lucky and see that on the menu soon.

Butcher's Bites has also been fueling up the Athens County Sheriff's Department as they  work to keep Athens safe. We love to see these groups keeping it local!
