The goal of DOCUTAH is to offer attendees a full experience. Whether it is unusual films, Q&A after each film, intimate DOCTalks with filmmakers or special events.
This year, DOCUTAH also offers several enhanced screenings with expert panels or informational meet and greets after the films to dig deeper into the subjects of four remarkable films.
The film observes the harsh and dangerous life of so-called mammoth hunters on the remote New Siberian Islands in the far north of Siberia. Sometimes the hunters find an almost completely preserved mammoth carcass with fur, liquid blood and muscle tissue. Such finds are magnets for high-tech Russian and South Korean clone researchers in search of mammoth cells with the greatest possible degree of intact DNA. Their mission could be part of a science-fiction plot. They want to bring the extinct woolly mammoth back to life à la “Jurassic Park”, and resurrect it as a species. And that’s just the beginning.

Set against the backdrop of the physician shortage and opioid epidemic in rural America, “The Providers” follows three healthcare providers in northern New Mexico. They work at El Centro, a group of safety-net clinics that offer care to all who walk through the doors, regardless of their ability to pay.
