2019 Skate Canada International event a boon to Kelowna businesses
Kelowna plays host to the 2019 Skate Canada International Oct 24-27 at Prospera Place.

While certainly great for the profile of our city, the event also promises to provide a boost to local businesses, especially in the downtown core. Tourism Kelowna is anticipating an influx of visitors, many of them international visitors, for those dates. They are encouraging downtown businesses to consider staffing up and finding ways to make visitors feel welcome. You can email your questions to jennifer@tourismkelowna.com .

3 Qs with Susi Foerg, Chief Angler Rustic Reel Brewing Co.
Combining her love for fishing and the outdoors with the pub-vibe from her native Germany, Susi Foerg's Rustic Reel Brewing Company boasts one of Kelowna's best patios, a unique decor and of course, beer brewed in-house. We caught up with Susi to find out how things are going with this brand new Okanagan offering.

What is something you wish you knew when you first began?
How little control you actually have over your own project during construction. I had a game plan; I had timeline goals. But between weather, material delivery delays, and coordinating various groups of people on a project, there was very little that I actually had any control in. That made for a lot of stress and aggravation.

What is something people might not know about Rustic Reel?
A couple things – 1. that our patio is still open and we are hanging on to summer! 2. That we are open at 11 for lunch, and also have a take-out lunch menu Tuesday-Friday. 3. That we are BIG! Most people come in and are pleasantly surprised that we have so much space!

What are you looking forward to/planning for the future?
We are excited about each new beer we bring out! We recently released our Imperial Chocolate Stout, and later this month will be our Gingerbread Brown Ale! We’re looking forward to (hopefully) having people see us as their new favourite local hang-out.

Rustic Reel Brewing Company is located at 760 Vaughan Avenue just north of downtown Kelowna. You can learn more about them and Susi on their website .
