City Staff Joins LACSD on Ocean Monitoring Tour
The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County recently hosted several City of Signal Hill staff members for an up-close look at the Ocean Monitoring Program, which regularly checks the health of the ocean and the sea life around the wastewater outfall area off Palos Verdes. They saw first-hand how our waters have improved, and enjoyed up-close encounters with the thriving local marine life.

Congratulations to one of our winners,

Question of the Month: How do I Properly Dispose of Fats, Oils and Grease?

Fats, oils and grease can cause significant damage to our sewer systems. Buildup of these items can cause sewer overflows and backups which in turn create health hazards, threaten our water resources, and diminishes water quality. Never pour waste oil and cooking residue directly down the sink or garbage disposal. Instead, pour them into a leak-proof and covered container. Dispose of it in the trash or drop it off at EDCO's Collection Center. Continue reading our FOG Guide for more tips.
