Site Selection: Why Aerospace Companies are Thriving — In California

You’ve already read articles about companies leaving California for greener business-climate pastures. This is not one of those. It’s about why companies want — and need — to stay, particularly in the aerospace sector, which for decades has been one of the state’s signature industries.

Calling all CA defense companies! Take our quick California Supply Chain Survey

GO-Biz, in partnership with The Institute of Applied Research at California State University San Bernardino (IAR), is leading an effort to map California’s Defense Supply Chain. This research is part of the California Advanced Supply Chain Analysis and Diversification Effort (CASCADE), an initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Defense to bolster California's defense supply chain cybersecurity resilience, innovation capacity and diversification.

Manufacturing Day 2018 is quickly approaching,
here's how to get involved.

This year, National Manufacturing Day will be on October 5. It is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.

Industry-relevant California legislative bills
currently introduced

Here are several items of legislation that are focused on workforce development, career and technical education, and technology that may be of interest to our AMP SoCal network. Thank you to Keith Coleman of the Tesla Foundation for sending the list. If there are additional items that should be added, please let us know at ampsocal@usc.edu.
