2018 DR MISSION TEAM

2018 team t-shirt

There are some key information documents online that you might want to check out before the trip. We will have printed copies of 2-4 below to hand out at our team meeting in the hotel at 8 p.m. on June 22.

One reminder:  Please remember to pack some snack food to add to the common refreshment table in our dormitory. Individually wrapped items that do not easily melt are best.

1) Complete document linked: What You Need To Know For Friday, June 22 . The key elements here are the name and address of our designated hotel in Atlanta ( Marriott Courtyard Atlanta Airport South/Sullivan Road, 2050 Sullivan Road, College Park, GA 30337), our plans for supper at a local restaurant at 6 p.m., and the start of the team meeting at the hotel at 8 p.m. At this team meeting, we will have team introductions, distribute team crosses and t-shirts to anyone who does not have them already, distribute the supply duffle bags, and go over plans for Saturday, June 23. Julius will also have DR pesos to loan to anyone who wants them in advance of our trip. These loans can be paid back in US dollars after we get home.

2) Complete document linked: What You Need to Know for Saturday, June 23. Everything that we can think of to help everyone get from Atlanta (US) to El Pedregal (DR).

3) Complete document linked: Room assignments in the Campamento dormitory. We will be moving quickly when we arrive at the Campamento in the late afternoon on Saturday to unload our luggage, move into our rooms, have supper in the camp dining hall, and have an initial planning meeting with Fr. Ramón Canela, and his wife, Ivelisse. It's going to be a long day, but it will work out. It always does.

4) Complete document linked: A tentative daily schedule plus photographs and names of the Canela family, our hosts at the Campamento. This schedule is our best estimate now, but we guarantee it will be changing. We will have an opportunity to visit the Jarabacoa Flower Festival after lunch on Sunday afternoon.

5) Complete document linked: The daily prayer card we will be using during the trip. This will be used during morning and evening worship services. As you will note, it is in both English and Spanish. We will also have daily readings in both languages available for use during these services.

6) Complete documents linked:  Smartphones & Laptops , Photographs & Reports , and Contact Information for Team Members . These were posted last week.

And...it's June 20. Our mission trip begins in 3 days. Please pray for safe travel, for the health and welfare of our dear friends in the Dominican Republic, and for the success of our mission projects.
