The following Co|So artists have been accepted into the Copley Society of Art's National Photography Show, Elevated: Doug Adams, CA; Frank Bartucca; Dan Cook; Andrea Kemler; Acadia Mezzofanti; Ann Marie O'Dowd; Roger Palframan; Joe Reardon, CA; Tony Schwartz, CA; Max Stern. The exhibition is on view in the Upper Gallery from September 15 - October 3.

Nicole Alger's mixed-media drawing "Filter" is showing in Art NXT Level/ 33 Contemporary Gallery's 8 x 8 Self Portrait Exhibition, which is on view through September 15.

Cariappa Annaiah, CA, is featured in "The Summer Show" at St. Tammany Art Association's 53rd National Juried Artists Exhibition in Covington, LA, which is on view through August 18.

David Bareford was one of the artists to participate in the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts' "Fresh Off the Easel" auction on August 12th.

Patricia Burson is exhibiting her solo show "Sunshine, Fog & Blizzards" at the Marblehead Arts Association through September 24. The opening reception for the exhibition is on Thursday, August 16th, from 6 - 8pm.

Nancy Colella, CA, showed some of her works in conjunction with Mary Moquin at the Cove Gallery in July.

Ann Trainor Domingue, CA, has a solo show "Shining Through," which shows thoughtful views on life near the sea. The exhibition runs through August 19 at George Marshall Store Gallery, York, Maine. Visit georgemarshallstoregallery.com for more details.

Sean Flood recently displayed his oil drawings from his residency at the School of Visual Art's Open Studio Exhibition.

Jeannette Fournier's painting "Social Networking" was accepted into the Biennial North American Open Show of the New England Watercolor Society. The show will be on view at the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA from September 16 - January 13, 2019.

Jeffrey Hayes is currently exhibiting some of his works in the summer show at the Powers Gallery in Acton, MA.

Anne Heywood, CA, is celebrating the Arts at ArtWalk Waldoboro in Maine at her gallery, The Heywood Gallery, on the second Saturdays from June - October, 4 - 7pm.

Suzanne Hodes, CM, is exhibiting four paintings at 360 Longwood Avenue through January 2019. Visitors may view the works any weekday between 7am and 7pm. Half of the proceeds of sales go for cancer research via Art In Giving.

Susan Hollis, CA, is showing "A Day to Treasure" in The National 2018 Exhibit at the Cape Cod Art Center, which is on view through August 19.

David Kaphammer is showing "Motoring In" in The National 2018 Exhibit at the Cape Cod Art Center, which is on view through August 19.

Debra Keirce is one of the five contemporary realist painters showing in the Customs House Museum's "Women.Artists.Mentors." (WAM) exhibition, on view through September 2nd. See Debra Keirce's works in the exhibition here. Also, Debra Keirce's painting "Almost" was accepted into the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society's 28th International Best of America Exhibition at the Eisele Gallery of Fine Art in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Carolyn Latanision, CM, has been accepted into the following exhibitions: American Watercolor Society in NYC, Adirondacks Exhibition of American Watercolors, Allied Artists of America, the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition, and the New England Watercolor National Exhibition.

Linnea Toney Leeming is one of three artists exhibiting work in the ArtProv Gallery's exhibition "Colorist." Along with artists Sherie Harkins and Nick Paciorek, Linnea is exhibiting her abstract artwork to showcase how she expresses herself through the use of intense color. The exhibition is on view through September 22.

Anya Leveille was recently accepted into the Oil Painters of America, which is a nonprofit organization that represents over 4,000 artists who work in representational art.

Barney Levitt, CM, had his painting "Fresh Cantaloupe" accepted into the National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society's "Best of America" National Exhibition at the Eisele Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio. The show runs from September 14th - October 13th. He'll also have a solo show at The Stewart Clifford Gallery in Provincetown, MA from September 28th - October 17th, with an opening reception on Friday, September 28th. And, Levitt is one of 6 artists chosen to be featured in "Summer Selective 2018," a collaboration of the Newton Art Association and NewTV. The show runs through September 21st at 23 Needham Street, Newton Highlands, MA.

Lori Mehta won Second Place for "Messy Bun" in The National 2018 Exhibit at the Cape Cod Art Center, which is on view through August 19. Her painting "Steep Recline" is also featured in the exhibition.

Judith Monteferrante, CA, had one of her photographic prints featured on the cover of the 2018-2019 Cape Ann Guide + Directory. Her book "The Nude Matured: Body and Spirit" is also now available for purchase on Lulu and Amazon.

Jack Morefield is donating one of his paintings to ARCK's annual auction, benefit, and gala on October 26th.

Martha Munroe, CM, has been invited to exhibit her painting The Walk Home at the Fitchburg Museum from October 4 - October 29. The opening reception for the exhibition is on October 7th from 1:30pm-3:30pm.

Paul Noel will have a solo show "Oil & Water...Can Mix..." at the Newburyport Art Association. The exhibition is on view in the Hills Gallery from August 21st to September 9th, with an opening reception on September 1st from 6:30-8:30pm. Kat O'Connor, CM, is showing two of her works in the 83rd Regional Exhibition of Art & Craft at the Fitchburg Art Museum through September 2nd.

Deborah Quinn-Munson recently showed her works in the exhibition "Glistening Waters" at Gallery 31 in Cape Cod.

Janine Robertson recently won "Best in Show" at the 69th Annual Clinton Art Society Juried Exhibit.

Safarani Sisters will be showing their performance piece "Coded Birth" at the Institute of Contemporary Art on Friday, August 17th at 6:30pm. Tickets are on sale for $5 for ICA members and $15 for general admission. Purchase tickets to the event on the ICA website.

Sandra Samaha, CA, is currently showing plein air paintings at the juried Crystal Cove Conservancy Art Exhibition, Newport Beach, CA.

Janet Schwartz is showing her work "Barreling Down the Highway" in The National 2018 Exhibit at the Cape Cod Art Center, which is on view through August 19.

Tony Schwartz, CA, is showing his photograph "Woodland Crown" in The Griffin Museum of Photography at Lafayette City Center's exhibition "Quien, Que, Donde?" This juried exhibition is on view through September 30. Tony is also showing his photograph "Foggy Morning II" in The National 2018 Exhibit at the Cape Cod Art Center, which is on view through August 19.

Mark Shasha's painting "Bow, Bell, and Beam" was the winner of the Artists' Choice Award and also received an Honorable Mention at Easton Plein Air Festival in Maryland.

Wenda Shelter is exhibiting her works in her solo show "Peace and Quiet" at the Marblehead Arts Association. The exhibition shows her recent series of oil paintings depicting the landscapes near Amesbury, MA. She is also showing her two pieces "Evening in the Berkshires" and "Smoke on the Water" in The National 2018 Exhibit at the Cape Cod Art Center, which is on view through August 19.

Jeanne Rosier Smith, CM, will be hosting an artist demonstration at Gallery 31 in Cape Cod on August 16th from 5pm-7pm. She will also have an opening reception for her show "Nauset Sands" at Gallery 31 on August 18, from 5-7pm. And, Jeanne will be showing two of her works in the Principle Gallery Charleston's Marine Show in November.

Joe Smith, CA, had his scratchboard piece "Deep Cut Gardens" accepted into the the upcoming Grassroots: An Emerging Artists Exhibition at the Rockport Art Association and Museum. The exhibition will run through September 2 at the museum at 12 Main St., Rockport, MA.

Tom Stocker, CA, will be participating in a members show of the Cambridge Art Association, "Still Life-Captured Moments," at University Place Gallery, Mt. Auburn St. in Cambridge. The exhibition runs through August 31, 2018.

Joyce Zavorskas, CA, is showing some of her works in "Wandering in the Wildness" at the Left Bank Gallery in Wellfleet until August 17. She is also showing her printwork in the exhibition "The Water Around Us/Five Printmakers from Cape Cod," which is on view at the Osterville Village Library through August 30.

WORKSHOPS

 

Eli Cedrone, CA, will host a five-day painting workshop, "A Brush with Italy," from September 30 - October 7, 2018, in Panzana, Italy. A deposit of $500 is required upon registration, with a double journey cost of $3,975 or a single supplement of $850. Contact Joan Hill at Arful Journeys for more information: 508-255-7907. On November 2, 3 & 4, Eli will also host "A Brush with Bermuda," a workshop in Bermuda where participants will learn the fundamentals of painting outdoors while following in the footsteps of Winslow Homer and others who've found inspiration on the island. To register for this event, call Eli at 781-443-4014. From May 20 - 29, 2019, Eli will be hosting "A Brush with Portugal," a painting workshop along the coastline of Cascais, Portugal. Participants will stay at the Albatroz Hotel, which is within walking distance to the village shops, cafes, and historic sites. Cost to participate is $3,295. Wendy Hale, CA, will be the Keynote Speaker at the Cape Cod Art Center's art conference "Mastering Your Mark" on October 14th, 2018. The conference includes 19 sessions packed with tips, techniques, and inspiration to help you advance your artwork. Wendy Hale will be giving a speech on "The Creative Brain - Why We Paint; Why We Can't." Register for the event here.

 

CALLS TO ARTISTS

August 15th deadline for Zullo Gallery's 24th Annual Juried Exhibition, which runs from September 15 to November 3, 2018. Juried by Cat Ciccolo Tucker, this exhibition is open to all artists working in all mediums. Applicants may submit up to three works on CD, flash drive, as photographic prints, or by email to: [email protected] (files must be in jpg. form). Please put "24th Juried Exhibit" in the subject line. Works must have been created within the past two years. The gallery requests a $20 donation from each applicant: go to zullogallery.org, under HOME scroll down to DONATION, make a $20 donation with "24th Juried Exhibit" in the comment area. Checks should be made payable to the Zullo Gallery at 456A Main Street, Medfield, MA 02052. Each applicant must include the artist's name, address, phone number, and email address, as well as the title, size, medium, and date each work was completed.

August 15th deadline for the Agora Gallery's Latin American Contemporary Fine Art Competition. This competition is open for Latin American, the Caribbean, and the Latin American diaspora living worldwide. Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital, printing, and mixed media are eligible. Click here to read further guidelines and to apply.

August 20th deadline for the Laguna Art Gallery's Group Show in California, on view from September 1 - September 28th. 20 artists with be chosen to exhibit for the month of September, and two artists will be chosen from the group show for solo exhibitions in the Fall of 2018. Artists may submit any subject and medium for this show. Visit the Laguna Art website for further information and to apply.

August 30th deadline for The Gallery in Malden's "Art and Innovation" exhibition. The gallery is looking for representation of innovation or artistic innovation itself. Works can be 2 or 3-dimensional, media, or video, sound, or technology. Learn more about the exhibition here.

August 31st deadline for the AQUA FEST 2018 Water Media Showcase. Eligible works include paintings created with water-based media: watercolor, acrylic, gouache, ink, tempera, etc. This is a non-juried open exhibition open to any subject and style, with a 1st Place $500 cash prize and a one year International Art Guide membership. September 5 and 6 deadline for the Concord Center for the Visual Art's 19th Annual Frances N. Rody Open Competition. This exhibition is juried by Sarah Montross, Associate Curator at DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. Visit the Concord Art website for more information and prospectus, here.

On September 9th from 11am - 5pm, The Copley Society of Art is participating in Open Newbury Street, an annual event where Newbury Street is turned into a pedestrian walkway. During Open Newbury Street, Co|So hosts artist demonstrations outside its gallery doors, allowing pedestrians to see artists working in action. October 1st deadline for Bromfield Gallery's "SOLO 2019" Juried Competition for New England Artists, juried by Howard Yezerski. SOLO 2019 awards two solo exhibitions, all gallery expenses paid, to two New England artists who have not previously had a solo show in a commercial gallery (group shows, universities, libraries, etc. do not disqualify). All media are welcome. A $35 fee applies for up to 5 images, and applications are acception via the online link: http://www.bromfieldgallery.com/solo.html

The Copley Society of Art is accepting proposals from artists who wish to have their art featured for a small exhibition on the back wall of the Lower Gallery. The intention is to make the wall available for artists who have not yet compiled a body of work necessary for a full Red Room exhibition or solo show in the Upper Gallery. Proposals will be considered at the regularly scheduled October and April meetings of the Art Committee, but may be submitted at any time. DE-CONSTRUKT, an artist residency in Brooklyn, NY, is open for applications. Live, work, and engage with the local community of Red Hook, Brooklyn. Share a beautiful, spacious 2600 sq. ft. loft with skylights, a photography darkroom, art book library, wet sinks, and event space. Private fully-furnished bedroom with separate studio, with shared bathroom and kitchen. It also includes accessible on-street parking and roof access with a view of Manhattan. All participants must make a public event in Red Hook, be it an exhibition, artist talk, screening, or workshop. Artists are required to stay at least 2 weeks. Pier 36, located in New York City, is taking applications for the fourth edition of the "Art on Paper" fair. The fair features 80 top galleries from around the world to present paper-based art. Visit thepaperfair.com for information and to apply.

The Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia, located in Venice, Italy, offers 1 to 12 week residencies to professional and practicing artists throughout the year. Work projects are in printmaking, book arts, drawing & painting, illustration, and calligraphy. Resident artists have access to the Scuola's studios 7 days a week. The Scuola is located in the heart of Venice and is equipped for all printmaking methods, including lithography, letterpress, serigraphy, intaglio, and photo-mechanical processes.
