Sunday, June 24, 2018
9:30 Worship Service

Worship at 9:30am in the Sanctuary

Preacher: Lindsay Murphy

Sermon: "Trust Issues"
Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:1-9, Proverbs 3:1-8

"The issue is fear.
But the deeper issue is trust.
Can we trust our lives, our futures,
and the lives of those we love to God?
Can we trust a God we can't control?
Can we trust this God whose take on
life and death and suffering and joy
is so very different from our own?"

Summer Book Conversations
Begin Monday, July 9th at 7pm, Fireside Room
MIPC is hosting a series of conversations on books that are rooted in theology and life and faith and history. No RSVP necessary. Come to any or all. Read the books as you are able to ensure a lively discussion. Our friends at Island Books kindly offer these publications with a 10% "book club discount".

July 9 - "Everything Happens for a Reason and Other Lies I've Loved"  by Kate Bowler. The author is a historian at Duke Divinity School who made a career studying the prosperity gospel in North America. In 2015, she was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and writes about the irony of being an expert in health, wealth and happiness while being ill.  Her book is a  personal  story, a theology class, and a lesson in empathy all wrapped into one.

Future Dates:
Aug 20 - "The Cross and the Lynching Tree" by James Cone
Sep 17 - "Take this Bread" by Sara Miles
Search for Director of Student Ministries
We have begun the search for a new leader of our youth program. We would like every member of MIPC to think about people they know throughout the US who may excel at this opportunity. Search committee members are: Kim Kamolz, Malcom McLellan, Carrie Shanafelt, Steven Briggs, Andrea Watson, Scott McBurney and Pastor Lindsay

Sanctuary Flowers
Each Sunday, congregation members have the opportunity to provide the beauty of flowers to the sanctuary. Many donate to honor loved ones who have passed, celebrate an anniversary or birthday or just because they love seeing flowers at church. Whatever the reason, the thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Flowers can come from your garden or a flower shop, whatever works best for you.
Because some of our members and guests are allergic to floral fragrances it is best to plan flowers without fragrances. Thank you.

If you would like to sign up to provide flowers for an upcoming Sunday service or for more information please continue to this  link .
