100 Black Men of Madison General Membership Meeting

The next General Membership Breakfast of the 100 Black Men of Madison will be held 8:00-10:00 a.m., Saturday, 15 February 2014, at Johnny's Italian Steakhouse, Greenway Station, 8390 Market Street, Middleton, Wisconsin.

19th Annual Heart & Soul Scholarship Ball
15 February 2014 - The Madison Concourse Hotel & Governor's Club 
 
Given the importance of successful educational outcomes for our youth, the Madison Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will stage the 19th Annual Heart & Soul Scholarship Fundraiser, 15 February 2014, 7:30 p.m., at The Madison Concourse Hotel & Governor's Club, 1 West Dayton Street, Madison, Wisconsin.

 

For the last eighteen years, the Madison Alumnae Chapter has awarded scholarships to local area high school seniors to be applied toward their goal of attending college. Thousands of dollars have been bestowed to numerous area youth to aid their quest in the pursuit of post-secondary education.

Join us for the 5th Annual Hearts for Helping Wine & Cheese Tasting Event on the evening of Friday, 21 February 2014, at the Madison Concourse Hotel.

Sample an excellent selection of Wisconsin's best wines, beers and gourmet cheeses. Bid in the live and silent auctions and enjoy live music!

All proceeds from the event benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County serving nearly 3,000 Dane County youth who need us most!

The Madison Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., will host "A Conversation with the Candidates: Madison School Board Candidate and Community Forum," Tuesday, 4 March 2014, at Fountain of Life Covenant Church, 633 West Badger Road, from 6-7:30 p.m.
 
This event will focus on the upcoming Madison Metropolitan School District School Board race between Wayne Strong and Michael Flores.

African American History Challenge Bowl

The 100 Black Men of Madison African American History Challenge Bowl (AAHCB) is an educational program designed to enhance the study of African American history. The AAHCB is open to all Madison-area middle school students with the goal to encourage pride, self-worth and an appreciation of the African American legacy and culture. It also is a challenging and fun way for students to expand their knowledge of African American History in highly competitive local and national competitions.

The 2013 winner of the local competition was the team from Spring Harbor Middle School (pictured above).
Outstanding Educators and Mentors Appreciation Breakfast

Today, within the context of our community, there are few actions more important than the education and mentoring of African-American children.

 

In concert with our Mission and Values, the 100 Black Men of Madison seek to recognize those educators and mentors who have demonstrated an extraordinary sense of humility and a strong commitment to continual improvement, based upon a fundamental motivation to inspire student success.

 

On 10 May 2014, the 100 Black Men of Madison will host its third annual Outstanding Educators and Mentors Appreciation Breakfast.  At this event, those who have made positive differences in the lives of our children will be recognized and celebrated.

Annual Golf Outing
28 July 2014 - The Legend at Bergamont   
 

The 100 Black Men of Madison cordially invite everyone to join us for a wonderful day of golf on Monday, 28 July 2014, at The Legend at Bergamont in Oregon, Wisconsin.

 

Gather your friends, family and coworkers and join us for a fun day of golf to support the 100 Black Men of Madison as we strive to provide mentorship to our youth in Madison and Dane County!

 

The format is a four-person, best-ball scramble. Prizes and awards will be given for low-gross teams, longest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one, $10,000 putting contest, and more! Individuals and teams are welcome, and non-golfers also are invited to attend and support this event at the Awards Dinner.

 

This golf outing is one of our signature events! This fundraising event helps support all of the 100 Black Men of Madison's endeavors, such as our Youth Mentoring Programs, Backpacks for Success event, scholarship campaigns and more!

Backpacks for Success Appreciation Banquet
12 August 2014 - UW-Madison Kohl Center  

 

The 6th Annual Backpacks for Success Banquet is scheduled for 12 August 2014, at 5:30 p.m. at the Kohl Center (Gate A).

 

The Banquet raises awareness and funds to support the Backpacks for Success Picnic, which will take place on 16 August 2014, at Demetral Park on Madison's east side. 

 

Over the past 18 years, we have provided over 25,000 backpacks filled with school supplies (at no charge) to area disadvantaged students. This event has become strongly affiliated with the "100" and is a key component of our brand in the community. We need your support to continue this tradition, which has become increasingly relevant in today's economic environment.

Prostate Cancer Awareness Walk
13 September 2014 - Downtown Madison, WI  

 

The 100 Black Men of Madison will hold its 2nd Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Walk 13 September 2014, in downtown Madison, WI.

 

Last year's walk was the first of its kind in Wisconsin. The objective is to raise awareness about a disease that is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among men in the United States and affects African-American men more than any other nationality.

 

Encouraged by the vision of Curley Dossman, Jr., Board Chairman of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., this event endeavors to encourage men to be screened to "Help Save the Life of Someone You Know."

Ride for Prostate Cancer Awareness
20 September 2014  

 

The 100 Black Men of Madison will hold a Prostate Cancer Awareness Ride on 20 September 2014, and endeavor to promote this as a national event through a partnership with the 100 Black Men of America.
