Sunday Breakfast
Breakfast this coming Sunday, October 20, will be provided by guest chefs, Rip & Ann Phillips.

Our Sunday topic is on CS Lewis taught by Dave Kirchinger. We will cover his biography and his writings. If you want to do any pre-reading for discussion sake, we will cover Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, his science fiction space travel trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra and That Hideous Strength), and the Chronicles of Narnia.

Please plan on joining everyone in Board Hall between 8:30am and 9:45 where you will not only enjoy great food but a time for fellowship.

Winter Foyer Groups Sign-Ups
Foyer Groups are groups of 6-8 (could be more) people that meet for a meal (at someone's home or at a restaurant). Every person (or couple) takes a turn arranging a meeting.  After the Winter meetings, new groups will begin in the Spring.

Besides having fun and getting to know each other, Foyer Groups offer an excellent opportunity to discuss where our church is now, where it is going and how we feel.   Of course, the groups have no assigned topics and people may just want to let the conversations ramble and flow, laugh and have a good time.

Sign-ups are during October.   Call Calvin Riley Pinney: 245 1623 or Caroline Eddleman: 253-0135 for information or questions.

Sing Along
Let's get together for a Sing-Along on Monday, October 28th at 6:30pm in the Church. There are only so many hymns we can sing during worship every weekend.

This will give us a chance to enjoy some of our favorites that we don't get to sing very often.  In addition to the Hymnal 1982 and Songs of Praise and Worship, we'll have a selection of several dozen pieces to choose from that aren't in either of those books.

Golden oldies you might have grown up on, especially if you were once Baptist, Methodist, etc., like "Because He Lives," "How Great Thou Art," "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms," and many, many more.  We sing about an hour, longer if we like.

Stewardship Gathering  Forward in Faith 2020

Dear Fellow Parishioners of St. Luke's;

As autumn nears, your Clergy, Vestry, Stewardship and Finance Committees are preparing to identify the needs and opportunities of our parish, to continue to grow and nurture us and our community.

During the month of October, we have scheduled a number of individual gatherings in parishioners' homes to share a light repast, and talk about where we are going in the coming year, and how our parish can thrive and grow. We have found a blessing in the small group get-togethers, as we get to know each other better as individuals and further define our roles in the larger community of parishioners.

Below is a listing of dates, times and places of small gatherings that are scheduled, so that you may choose the one that is most convenient for you. You may click on the link below or call the office at 245-8827 to sign up.

Each group will be approx. 12 -30 people at the most. Fr. Michael will be there to share details on our priorities and stewardship opportunities.  Please note that there are 2 dates which are during the day for our parishioners who prefer not to drive at night.

We look forward to sharing our goals with you, as we break bread together.

In Christ's name,
Lynn Cline
Stewardship Chair

St. Luke's Music Series
On October 20 St. Luke's Music Series will open its 6th season with an Organ Recital and Evensong at 4:00 pm with Shawn Dawson, Organist/Choirmaster at Calvary Episcopal Church.

Following the Evensong, our Music Gala will be held once again at the home of Brian and Celia Manlove, 2709 Anchor Way, 40223 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm.  A buffet supper will be served.  The Gala is always a very festive event with wonderful food and drink and cocktail piano music provided by Robert Lee.

Music is a vital ministry at St. Luke's which is made possible by the generous donations of our members and friends.  We thank all of you who have been so supportive of our past seasons!  Your donations to the Music Series allow us to extend a spiritual outreach to the Louisville community by sponsoring recitals, Evensongs and other special musical events in our beautiful church.  This year we're also asking for memorials to underwrite the cost of instrumentalists at Christmas and Easter services and a possible special concert in March 2020.

Centering Prayer
Please join us for Centering Prayer on
October 22, at 6pm at the Lyman House (church office) conference room.

Inaugural Concert, Nov. 3, 7pm
Cardinal Brass presents a FREE inaugural concert featuring a delightful mix of music both familiar and new, with marches, hymns, classical pieces, Latin arrangements, solos, and more.

There will certainly be something to delight everyone! Cardinal Brass is a new community brass band with members from across Kentucky, directed by Dr. Joel Collier, Divisional Music Director with The Salvation Army.

8th Annual Coat Drive
This is our 8th year participating in the Louisville Free Coat Exchange. St. Luke's parishioners have donated over a 1000 coats. We will collect new and gently used coats until Thanksgiving Day.

Please see collection boxes in the Narthex at church.
On Friday November 29th we will deliver our coats to various distribution sites in downtown Louisville. They will be given away on Black Friday from 10am until 1pm. Any leftover coats are donated to non-profits to continue the give.

We need gently used coats, hats, scarfs and gloves for all ages. Thank you, The Brotherhood of St. Andrew
