Reflections from Fr. Rick

What We Do, Matters.

As I write this article there are over 100 children and numerous servant volunteers flooding our halls and classrooms for our annual VBS.
The energy, fun and laughter are contagious and most importantly, the children are learning about God's unconditional love and growing in their faith. One child, upon returning home, asked for a bible so that she could read all about that she is learning at VBS.

What we do, matters.

God has entrusted us with a vision that is amazing, exciting and transformative: As your neighborhood church in College Park, together we stand by the most important door in the world, the door which people walk through when they experience God.
  • From seeking, serving, and feeding Christ in hundreds of hungry people each week through our Feed My Lambs and Gathering ministries,
  • to ministering to the hearts of children and families in College Park,
  • to being the loving incarnational presence of God to those who are hurting, sick or in need,
  • to proclaiming the Good News of God's Kingdom and the reconciliation of all people to God,
  • to meaningful, fulfilling, and impactful worship centered on God every week of the year,
  • and ultimately by teaching, baptizing and nurturing new believers in the ways of Christ.

We exist because we unyieldingly believe that the most tremendous thing in the world is for people to find the door to God. We are grateful that you are a part of God's extended family at St. Michael's and we invite you to invest yourself through the resources that God has given you-your energy, your talents, your prayers, and your money-in this work to which God has called us-for what we do, matters.

In Christ's love,

Return Your Bags...Please!

Please return Feed My Lambs bags this week to the church.  This ministry stocks the vital food pantries at area schools.

NOTE: Schools have indicated that the need is as great, if not greater, during the summer months. Remember that when schools are closed, other than summer feeding programs, many kids will be missing meals due to lack of food in the home. Help us make sure that no one goes hungry this summer!

" The highest form of worship is the worship of unselfish Christian service. The greatest form of praise is the sound of consecrated feet seeking out the lost and helpless." -- Billy Graham

Backpack Drive

Our back pack and school supply drive is coming up next month. Stay tuned for more information in the next edition of the e-messenger.

Pew Angels

Be one of those wonderful people who help to organize and clean the church pews by straightening the
books, collecting things left behind, and refilling needed  items.

Flower Sponsorship at St. Michael's

Did you know that your sponsorship is the only source  of funding for this ministry

The flowers that adorn the altar every Sunday are given to the glory of God and as an offering of worship! We invite you to join in sponsoring the flowers each week in memoriam or thanksgiving for family, friends and occasions.  This is a beautiful and vital ministry as we worship God through His creation.

There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex. Sign up for your desired date/dates to honor and remember your loved ones throughout the year. Please do so no later than the Sunday prior. You will then receive a confirmation call the week your flowers will be placed on the altar.

Summer Sunday School Continues
Summer Sunday School helpers desperately needed for this Sunday!

Our Summer Sunday School goes through August 26.  We will combine all three classes and meet up in the Camp R.O.C.K. room (upstairs Rowe Hall) for Children's Chapel.

Children's Chapel will be led by Ms. Cindy but she does need help.  We are asking for a parent volunteer and a youth volunteer each Sunday.
We are asking everyone to choose at least one Sunday.   Click HERE to sign up!

Please keep all the children and volunteers in your prayers this week.
We are having a blast celebrating Jesus!
