Roslyn Public Schools
SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
January 6, 2021

Dear Roslyn Families,

Please be advised that a student at East Hills Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. Since our classes are held in contained pods, and students have no interaction with the school population at large, it has been determined that this case does not warrant a school building closure.

At this time, every parent who has a child in the class where the student tested positive has been notified, and our internal contact tracing has been completed. As always, our staff will conduct a thorough cleaning of the elementary school with special attention paid to the affected classroom.

Out of an abundance of caution, the class has been instructed to switch over to remote learning for 10 days, effective tomorrow. Outside contact tracing is presently being conducted by the Nassau County Department of Health (NCDOH), who will determine if anyone who had close contact with this individual will need to be quarantined. I ask that any family who is advised to quarantine by the NCDOH continue to be diligent during the quarantine period to minimize their exposure to others.

With COVID-19 cases on the rise, please continue to follow local health guidelines to keep yourself, your families, and our community healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Allison Brown
Superintendent of Schools
