Hello!

Happy New Year! While we are still enjoying winter storage crops like parsnips, and potatoes, from here on out the bags will be filled with more frozen and prepared items until spring. This week the bags feature Cheese and Potato Pierogies. To prepare simply boil frozen pierogies in salted water for 3 minutes then drain and sauté with plenty of onions and butter. See our recipe on the side of the carton.

If you are celebrating New Years in the traditional German way we have sauerkraut and green onion bratwurst in the bags. If you are looking for something a for the slow cooker, pork roasts are on sale on the website.

See you at the stops and enjoy your bags!

Making Sauerkraut
Our Sauerkraut is a living food! With just two ingredients - cabbage and pink Himalayan sea salt - this naturally fermented food is full of good for you probiotics. Sauerkraut is made by a process called lacto-fermentation, which uses salt to protect against the formation of unhealthy bacteria, while the healthy bacteria (salt-resistant Lactobacillus) is allowed to grow. Keep your ‘kraut in the fridge, and as long as it’s covered by brine it’ll last for a few months. Pressure can develop in the jar from gas, so occasionally, open the jar a crack to release some pressure and seal it tightly again.
Pork Roasts
We have plenty of pork roast and tenderloins for sale! The pork roasts are bone in, Boston blade roasts or an arm roast. Multiple weights available.

P.S. we also have a limited quantity of Sauerkraut and Potato pierogies for sale!
Special Orders need to be placed & paid for in full by Tuesday at midnight to be delivered on this week's routes.
Borscht: Using those Roots
If you are like most people you may find in the deep recesses of your fridge some vegetables that have been forgotten. These are most likely the less favored varieties, or the out-of-the-ordinary kind that require some creative thinking. If these happen to be cabbage, beets, potatoes, and carrots you are well on your way to making Borscht.

Here are some recipes to help you clean out your fridge for the new year.
