What a crazy week it has been here at Malakoff Elementary. The students did great bringing canned food for the food drive with Mrs. Austins' class bringing 181 cans of food. There were several classes that brought over 100 cans. The winning class enjoyed watching their teacher shove a pie in my face, which was very yummy. Mrs. Waldens' class won the campus Spirit Week Door decorating contest. We would like to thank Malakoff's own Volunteer Fire Department for coming to the school to provide fire safety tips to the students.

~Picture retakes will be on Monday, October 21.

I would personally like to send a HUGE thank you to our paraprofessional staff. These folks continuously go above and beyond for your children. When you see a paraprofessional, please give them a big thank you for all they do. Malakoff Elementary wouldn't be the awesome school it is without their contributions!

Learning to CODE

Bootcamp is underway! 7th and 8th graders are learning to program robots. We are competing with schools nationwide. This week we were bouncing from 4th to 5th place overall. There are 171 students involved in Bootcamp.
Escape Room Fun

During Homecoming week MMS hosted a Digital Escape Room for their students.  The students had to unlock 5 rooms to rescue the principal.
To begin they were given a web address to open and read. The students had to work together to figure out clues which lead them to being able to unlock each room.
Escape rooms are becoming more and more popular and help focus on higher level thinking skills.
