America is Open for Business
Friday’s better than expected jobs report shows America is open for business.
After our record jobs gains were artificially halted by a global pandemic, the economy has begun to recover thanks to President Trump. Defying the grim forecast, May saw the largest one month jobs surge in history and added 2.5 million jobs including 225,000 manufacturing jobs, 464,000 construction jobs, 1.4 million restaurant jobs, 312,000 healthcare jobs, and 368,000 retail jobs. This figure far surpassed the devastating prediction that we would lose 8.5 million jobs in May. A significant share of May’s jobs gains went to minorities with nearly 300,000 new jobs for black Americans and 650,000 new jobs for Hispanic Americans. The unemployment rate for Asian Americans stabilized. In good news for our nation’s veterans, the unemployment rate decreased.
The unemployment rate was much lower than anticipated and dropped from the previous month’s figure. The unemployment rate was expected to be near 20% and ended up at 13.3%. Our economy is well on the road to recovery after we experienced the fastest plunge in history. Many economists expected May jobs losses to continue but thanks to the President’s leadership the worst of the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic may be behind us. Some experts credited the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) which saved millions of jobs and delivered over 4.2 million loans totaled at more than $670 billion. In the Rose Garden on Friday, President Trump signed legislation to make important changes to the PPP that will benefit restaurants, hotels, and other businesses impacted by the virus.
The amazing May jobs report drew widespread praise and was certainly not the news Joe Biden and Democrats were hoping to wake up to. CNBC hailed this morning’s jobs report as “
great news
,” noting that lifting the lockdown orders clearly had an impact.
Our economic recovery and great American comeback has begun. President Trump built the strongest economy in history and is doing so again. Under his leadership and pro-growth agenda, our economy will once again achieve record heights and all Americans will reap the benefits.

President Trump is Committed To Safe Communities
President Trump has condemned the violence sweeping the country.
President Trump has strongly condemned the violence sweeping our country. The President said George Floyd’s death was a “very sad day” for America and the event “should have never happened.” President Trump immediately asked the FBI and DOJ to investigate Floyd’s tragic death and is committed to delivering justice. He has called for the memory of Floyd to be honored and for the violence and looting to stop. Peaceful protestors should not be drowned out by rioters and looters.
The President’s first duty is to protect the safety of the American people and he has mobilized federal resources to do so. President Trump quickly announced the National Guard had arrived on the scene in Minneapolis and all impacted governors were encouraged to deploy the National Guard and establish a strong law enforcement presence. In DC, President Trump deployed thousands of military personnel and law enforcement to stop the destruction of property and our national monuments and memorials. The Trump Administration is working to respond to outbreaks of violence and has already made over 50 arrests for federal crimes tied to violent rioting.
As soon as the riots began
, President Trump spoke out immediately against the violence we are seeing across the country. Throughout the week he has reiterated a call for law and order. In stark contrast, it took Joe Biden two days to issue a statement condemning the riots. This is what leadership looks like when looting and violence sweeps America.
To advance his own political ambitions, Joe Biden has a history of stoking racial fear and division. Biden has
lied
about marching in the Civil Rights movement. Biden
belittled
Obama as “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” Biden was the “
architect of mass incarceration
.”
Joe Biden has not condemned
the killing of law enforcement officers who have been attacked by rioters and has also failed to condemn
calls
from fellow Democrats who want to defund police forces nationwide.
