PW FALL GATHERING AND LUNCHEON

Mark your calendars now and make your reservation for the PW Fall Gathering and Luncheon on Tuesday, September 18, 11:30, in the Wood Fellowship Hall. Expect a fun filled hour of wonderful food, fellowship time, singing for all, activities, and informative updates with Jane, Katherine, and Pen.

Let’s make our Circle of Joy the biggest ever! Register at the church or online at the link below: (Registration deadline is 9/11.)

PW SUMMER SNAPSHOTS
The summer didn’t keep the FPC Presbyterian Women from having a great time. Fellowship and get-togethers kept everyone in touch throughout the summer. See below to check out the fun!
Circle # 13’s Annual Intergenerational Gathering at Martha Mallory’s home was celebrated in June when all members of the Tuesday night Circles (Circles 10,12 & 13) came together. Always a wonderful evening of great food and fun, we love Martha’s beautiful back yard!
Circle #3 may be new but they are staying busy! A summer picnic was enjoyed at Debbie O’Hara’s lake home in June and they celebrated Patricia Cox’s 91 st birthday in July. Happy Birthday, Patricia!
The “northern” circle (Circle #3 nickname) is a fun-loving group of intergenerational women.  If you live in the northern part of the county and are interested in visiting or joining, contact Barb Neidinger at barbneidinger@gmail.com .

PICK AN APPLE FOR WESTERLY HILLS

It's that time to help PW fill goody bags for all 45 classrooms at Westerly Hills Academy. You can support this PW project:

·     Pick an apple from the Apple Tree in the Historical Lobby, purchase the school supplies or gift card listed, and deliver to the bin in the hall behind the Sanctuary.

·     The Apple Tree will be in full bloom and will be staffed each Sunday through September 19.

·      You may also  make a donation online   or mail a check payable to the church with “Westerly Hills Academy school supplies” noted in the memo line.

PW MAGAZINE COLLECTION UPDATE
The magazine collection for Presbyterian Hospital is up and going. Magazines are being left and a few deliveries have been made to the hospital this summer. There is a sign on the credenza in the back hall behind the Sanctuary that indicates where to leave them. Thanks for helping with this “revitalized” service that PW provides to Presbyterian Hospital and its patients.
INVITING ALL NEW PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN
Presbyterian Women joyfully invites all new members to a Coffee in your honor as we welcome you to First Presbyterian Church. It is a great opportunity to meet other church members, share in conversation, enjoy some coffee and pastries, and learn about the church. We would love to see you there!

Spotlight on Circle 2

Circle 2 was originally created for young mothers, but will be expanding this year to welcome a more diverse group of women. Circle 2 encourages women to fulfill their call to a God given ministry
of discipleship, stewardship, and servant leadership via fellowship opportunities, including networking, volunteering, teaching, mentoring, workshops, and other opportunities. Check out their awesome calendar of events and reach out to Moderators Christy Snead
Liz Signet ( ecozad217@gmail.com ).
MODERATOR'S MESSAGE

I t is with excitement (and a few nerves) that I kick off the new year as your 2018-19 PW Moderator. The summer has been busy with committee meetings (we are Presbyterian after all), lots of iced tea dates around Charlotte, and truly enjoying getting to spend more time at the church with our wonderful staff in preparation for the new year.

The year will be a new kick-off for Circle #2 and Circle #11. Many thanks goes to wonderful leaders Christy Snead ( christy.p.snead@gmail.com ) and Liz Signet ( ecozad217@gmail.com ) for Circle 2 and Minna Elliott ( minnadelliott@gmail.com ) for Circle 11. If you are interested in what these circles are up to, feel free to contact them. It is very exciting!

The Fall Gathering is just around the corner; the Advent Communion Service with Katherine Kerr will be here before you know it; and it’s time to mark your calendars now for the PW Retreat with Anna Rainey Dickson on April 26-28. Please join in where you can throughout the year, whether at a PW event or a Circle meeting, and be part of the joy that is Presbyterian Women!

Blessings to you all,

Jane Ives
PW Moderator

P.S. Get a head start on your PW pledge and pledge online right now! It will be one thing off your "to do" list and save some trees in the process!

Thanks!
