Dear Northland Elementary Families,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! The staff and I feel so blessed to be working with such a wonderful community of students, parents, and colleagues.

We are looking forward to an exceptional year. In fact, our focus as a school this year, for faculty and students, is "Where Excellence is Expected." We fully expect that when we follow this year's verse Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart for the LORD" that excellence will be the natural result. We believe that we have the right faculty and staff in place, committed parents and families who will partner with us, and a great group of students who will make the most of their experiences at Northland.

I would like to extend a special welcome to our new families, and a big welcome back to our returning families! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you, to ensure that our children can achieve their highest potential spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially. There are several events planned to welcome our families to the 2018-19 school year such as, "Meet the Teacher, and Grade Level Informational Night." There will also be many opportunities for your family to become engaged in a positive campus culture of excellence this year! Please don't hesitate to let us know how we can assist you! I would also like to welcome Vanessa Moores to her new role as a 4th grade teacher! We are so grateful for all that she does to serve Northland. I'm sure our 4th graders are excited!

The Northland Elementary staff and I feel privileged and honored to be a part of this amazing school family. We count it a blessing and also a great responsibility, as we partner with you and prepare our children to be kingdom-minded leaders. Please join us in a community wide prayer time next Tuesday morning, August 14th to start our 2018-19 school year.

Common Classroom Expectations
One of the ways that we praise / worship the Lord is by the way we live our day.

P rayerful In All Things  (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Pray continually.

R espect For Authority  (1 Thessalonians 5:12)
Brothers and sisters, we ask you to show appreciation to those who are working hard among you and those who are your leaders as they guide and instruct you in the Lord -- they are priceless.

A lways Do Your Best  (Colossians 3:23)
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

I ntegrity  (Psalms 25:21)
May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.

S peak Life  (Proverbs 18:21)
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

E verlasting Love (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Thank you again for choosing Northland and entrusting your children to us.  It is going to be an excellent year!

Blessings,
Monica Lewis
