from Fr. Timmerman
2018-2019 School Year Theme
Wisdom helps us recognize the importance of others and the importance of keeping God central in our lives.

Understanding is the ability to comprehend the meaning of God's message.

Knowledge is the ability to think about and explore God's revelation, and also to recognize there are mysteries of faith beyond us.

Counsel is the ability to see the best way to follow God's plan when we have choices that relate to him.

Fortitude is the courage to do what one knows is right.

Piety helps us pray to God in true devotion.

Fear of the Lord is the feeling of amazement before God, who is all-present, and whose friendship we do not want to lose.

Aquinas FIRE "Come Holy Spirit"

Over 100 high school students were "on fire for the Lord" at the first Aquinas FIRE "Come Holy Spirit" event held on Sunday, August 26th at Aquinas Catholic in David City. This spiritual mini-retreat was specifically designed to allow high school students to encounter God through praise music, Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Confession, and fellowship.

The next FIRE "Come Holy Spirit" event will be hosted by Bishop Neumann at Lake Wanahoo on October 7th. Aquinas will provide busing.
Student Council Provides the Key
On the first day of school, Aquinas Student Council provided every middle & high school student, faculty, and staff with a blessed key. These keys coincided with the priest's first Mass of the school year with the important to remember that Jesus is the key to everything.

St. Mary's Elementary
Early Childhood Learning Center

The Holy Family Early Childhood Learning Center is up and running, currently in St. Mary's Convent. Our new location will be across the street from St. Mary's School. Very soon, the Aquinas Building Trades students will begin constructing the 4600 square foot Holy Family Center. More details to come.
Kicking Off the School Year
This year St. Mary's had their annual Open House/ Ice Cream Social a week after school started. Even if the weather didn't cooperate, it was a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow parents who have children in
the same grade, enjoy some ice cream, and see all the activities the Spirit Club has planned for the year.
Celebrating Baptism
St. Mary's monthly Baptism celebration reminds every student the importance of remembering their Baptism Anniversary. During Mass, Fr. Timmerman gives a special blessing. At lunch, students are given a cupcake in celebration of their Baptism Anniversary, a most holy occasion because it's when they first received the gift of the Holy Spirit and became an adopted son/daughter of God. Do you know your Baptism Anniversary? How do you celebrate?
