Stepping Up Your Social Media Game

In early June, members of our team attended Sree's Social Media Weekend, a conference hosted by
Sree Sreenivasan , former Chief Digital Officer of Columbia University, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the City of New York.

Following are three takeaways on how to improve your social media channels:
  • Follow the three ABCs of social media: Always Be Charging (your smartphone); Always Be Collecting (pictures, with said phone); and AlwaysBe Connecting (especially when you don't have an immediate need from our network). A handy sheet with this, and other tips is available thanks to Sree  here.
  • We know eye-catching micro-videos and images will boost your social media engagement, but the sheer number of apps available to create this content is overwhelming. Jeremy Caplan ( @Jeremycaplan), Director of Education, Tow-Knight Center Entrepreneurial Journalism at CUNY, showcased his favorite tools, which can be found here.  (T rust us, you'll want to click that!)
  • With 8,000 tweets sent per second, it can be hard to cut through the noise to showcase your nonprofit. Twitter Chats provide a unique avenue to do just that.  Neil Parek (@neilparekh)
