As co-leader of the U.S.-China Global Health Working Group, Jennifer Bouey, PhD, MPH, MBBS, associate professor in the School of Nursing & Health Studies, leads a bilateral, multidisciplinary team of U.S. and Chinese researchers collaborating to address pandemic preparedness, migration and related challenges.

Colleagues, family members, friends and patients of Anne E. O'Donnell, MD (M'82), a professor of medicine at Georgetown University and chief of the division of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, recently joined her in celebrating her investiture as the new Nehemiah and Naomi Cohen Chair in Pulmonary Disease Research.

Georgetown Student Selected for NIH Medical Research Scholars
The National Institutes of Health has selected Cameron Fick (M'19) as one of only 37 students for its 2018-2019 Medical Research Scholars Program class. The program helps cultivate future physician-scientists by immersing them in basic, clinical and translational research and providing them with mentorship training along the way.

Amri Delivers VUIM Commencement Address
Hakima Amri, PhD, professor in the department of biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology and the division of integrative physiology, emphasized the practice of evidence-based integrative medicine and shared her life experience in her commencement speech at Virginia University of Integrative Medicine.

In an article published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases, Georgetown researchers are calling for comprehensive actions to prepare for increasing outbreaks of the killer Nipah virus that will help mitigate the risk of a future pandemic of the disease. 

 




Biochemistry major Patrick Mulcahey (C'19) has been awarded a Barry Goldwater Scholarship, a prestigious national scholarship for students who excel in mathematics, engineering and the natural sciences, for his research on improving the design of biocompatible devices and implants. Mulcahey conducted the research in the lab of Jong-in Hahm, PhD, a professor in the department of chemistry.
