I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to our generous donors during our End of Year Campaign. We are happy to announce that we raised almost $13,000 to support our wonderful parenting programs. We could never do this without the community's generous donations!
Take a look at the full list of our donors!
Saying good-bye is never easy!
We have a wonderful group of volunteers within the BRC. Some of the most important are the BRC's Board of Directors. This group of volunteers commit their time, expertise, energy, and passion to the organization. This year we say good-by and thank you to the following board members that are stepping down.

Ann St. Claire, MPH

Ann joined the BRC Board in 2011. All I can say is she is ONE AMAZING woman! She threw her all into the board and took on the roll of president for many years. She whipped the group into shape ensuring we had all our ducks in a row. She facilitated every meeting and handled herself with the utmost in professionalism. We would not be who we are without her incredible guidance. She is now moving on to serve on the board of Lifecycle Womancare. They are lucky to have her! Thank you Ann for everything you've done for the BRC!!

Laverne Bastress
Laverne took her role as board member VERY seriously! There's an old saying for board members... "Give money, get money, or get out!" Laverne and her family were not only generous donors, but she never stopped looking for funding sources for us. She also chaired our Education Committee and led some awesome projects within her time. We wish Laverne and her family the best as her work takes her to the West Coast! We're happy for her, but sad for us! Thank you, Laverne!

Gail Herrine, MD, FACOG, IBCLC, FABM

What can you say about Gail?! She is one of the most driven women I've ever met. If you want something done, you want Gail on your team. I never thought I'd meet a bigger breastfeeding advocate than myself, but I think we found one in Gail. She's a go-getter when it comes to advocating for women and breastfeeding.  She has such a strong passion about educating women about the benefits of breastfeeding and getting policies in place to help women be successful. The BRC will, luckily, continue to work with Gail at Temple University Hospital, but her volunteer work is moving on to the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. Again... another lucky organization to have a former BRC board member! We were very fortunate to have had her on our team since 2015. Good luck, Gail and thank you!!

Katie Lapps Wert, DDS

Katie joined our board in 2016. She is a pediatric dentist and breastfeeding advocate! Katie brought such a positive light to every meeting. She is a smart, motivated woman. She held positions on both our Communications and Education Committees. We could always count on Katie to bring a fun new idea to the table. After the birth of her third child, the juggling act of work and family got to be too much to continue her volunteer work. We will miss her and know she will always be in the BRC corner! Thank you, Katie!!

Melissa Guerriero

A lthough Melissa just joined the board this year, she has made an impact on the organization. We'll miss her at board meetings but, she will continue to volunteer as one of our Community Counselors. Melissa helped us with our Instagram social media skills as she's the popular Pump_momma_pump on Instagram. We're lucky to have her as an exclusively pumping counselor for those mothers who are forced to pump exclusively or choose to! We're glad we will still be seeing you, Melissa!

Welcoming the NEW!
Chrissy Glassman, MSN, RN, CRNP
We are happy to announce our new board member, Chrissy Glassman! Chrissy is m arried to Steve and mother to Elizabeth (11), Alexis (8) and Charlotte (4).  She currently works as an RN at Abington Memorial Hospital in their Maternal Child Complex.  When asked why she wanted to join the board, she said, "I am looking forward to helping the BRC educate healthcare professionals about the value of breastfeeding and the BRC."  She brings with her a background in adult education as a clinical instructor for BSN students, and some experience and training in grant writing.  Chrissy is one of our BRC Community Counselors and she also schedules volunteers for the BRC Helpline. She loves to spend time with her kids outside, planning Disney trips and exercising.  Welcome Chrissy!
Thanks for reading. If there is any other programs you'd like to see happening at the BRC, don't hesitate to contact me!

Sincerely,

Colette Acker
