PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello Everyone,
My daughter is reading Shakespeare and well, you know how that is going! One of the highlights to me is to see a something written come alive in a movie or play. PTSA provides the funds to have a Shakespeare play performed at IS for the students. That makes curriculum exciting. Would students pay $15 to see the play? We don’t want that choice to be made.
Which brings me to the financial support that PTSA provides to the school. We WANT to provide the funds necessary to keep students engaged in their studies, to become passionate about a subject from the way it is taught or presented. Don’t the teachers do this? Of course, but our dedicated, passionate teachers like to think outside the box and with that avenue comes the need for money to try things out. Our grant program allows teachers to find new and interesting curriculum enhancement for students.
At our annual
Spring Fundraiser this
Friday, May 18th, the opportunity to help raise funds is within your power, to engage students, enrich our curriculum, bring interesting expert subject matter speakers to school, and interns from other countries to help our French program to name just some of our support.
We need to raise $30K to make good on our commitments to this school. International School counts on us to be there for them, and they turn to us for support with requests to help our students to succeed. Please come and help us raise these funds this Friday, or if indeed, you have other plans, please consider a donation for this event.
Thank you to the many families that have donated during our Fall campaign and during the year. Your funds have allowed us to continue to support the academic success of this school this year. Let’s continue that promise to IS by funding now and the start of the next school year. Community Creates Success at IS. I look forward to seeing you Friday.
Best,
Meribeth Nordloef-Pedersen
ISPTSA President 2017-2018

BACCALAUREATE / SENIOR CELEBRATION SLIDE SHOW- DEADLINE 5/25
One of the great traditions of Baccalaureate is a slide show featuring every senior. Each student is able to have 4-6 photos in the slide show. People tend to have a current photo (like a senior portrait), an early photo (like a baby photo), and a family photo. But it is up to you what you’d like to include (activities, sports, travel, etc.).
There is also the opportunity to share group photos – pictures from classes, senior takeover, focus week, dances, high school retreat, band/choir/orchestra, etc. Send as many as you would like to share, but know that we may not be able to use them all.
The deadline for photos is
Friday 5/25.
