Hanging out in the ... library?

How special is it to see high school students hang out in the traditional hub of learning - the school media center! Yes, checking out books and other learning resources is still the dominate purpose of the space, but CHS's new media center is much more inviting, featuring stylish, comfortable seating, easily accessible technology, and even an Internet Cafe featuring speciality coffee. "It is gratifying to see that the students truly enjoy socializing in this academic space," said CHS Principal David Brooks. Who would have thought the library would become the new cool school place?

Anunika's favorite teacher Mrs. Murphy wins prize!

CES teacher Amy Murphy was presented the Southwire My Favorite Teacher award. A qualifying teacher must be nominated at Southwire's Annual Back-to-School event, this year held July 14, and his or her name then drawn at random. Third grader Anunika Coleman nominated Mrs. Murphy, who had taught Anunika for two years. She may use the prize money to supplement her classroom in any way. CONGRATULATIONS, Mrs. Murphy, and THANK YOU, Southwire and West Georgia Technical College, for the generous prize!
