Welcome Sixth Graders to Sandburg!

We are looking forward to seeing our Group A students on Monday and Tuesday next week and our Group B students on Thursday and Friday. A reminder for those who plan to drop their children off and pick them up. Here is our map to assist you in making sure it is safe for everyone.

When students arrive at Sandburg - look for staff with our Welcome 6th Grade --This Way signs. Students will enter in Door 4, which is the door farthest to the north in the front of our building. Students will be offered a Grab and Go breakfast and then go directly to their Advisory class. They will use hand sanitizer or wash their hands upon arrival to the classroom. They will be given a paper schedule to put in their binders and our teachers and staff will help them find each class.

It is going to be a great week! We are so excited to have our students back at Sandburg!

Important Parent Drop Off and Pick Up Information:
Help us keep our Sandburg Family Safe

Please do not drop your child off at school before 7:50am. Due to Covid protocols we cannot allow students to gather in the lobby. Parent drop off and pick up will be in our front parking lot. Please enter the lot and take a quick left - drop and pick up at the crosswalk.  Only buses may go straight in front of the building. Dismissal will begin with parent pick up at 2:40, followed by bus students, walkers will be dismissed last. If a line for the lot forms, please line up west of the lot along Sandburg Lane. See the attached map.
Face Mask Policy

Masks must be worn while at Sandburg Middle School at all times. Masks must be worn tightly over your mouth, nose and chin. You should wear a clean mask at least every 3 days.

There are only two times when it is ok to remove your mask.
  1. When a person is alone in a room.
  2. When you are eating or drinking at breakfast or lunch in your assigned seat.

Support Process for Masking
  1. When our staff, students and visitors need a mask, we have extra cloth and paper masks. Speak to a teacher or the office to get a mask.
  2. Is your mask uncomfortable or not fitting well? Check with a teacher or the office for a different mask and/or ear protectors.
  3. All staff and students are asked to use either a non-verbal cue, a visual tool or a verbal “Mask Please” as a cue to remind staff, students and visitors to wear or fix their masks.
  4. When a student, staff member or visitor refuses to wear a mask after reminders and problem solving support, Sandburg support staff and/or the Sandburg administration will be contacted and will provide support.
