A review of prostate cancer incidence and mortality statistics by race nationally, by state, and region with an analysis of historic trends with future projections.
10:00 - 11:15 AM: Prostate Cancer Prevention and Early Detection
Results of the Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial published in 2018 confirms that Finasteride can be used to effectively and safely reduce the risk of prostate cancer. The U. S. Preventive Services Task Force also provided its updated prostate cancer early detection screening recommendation in 2018. This session will review and analyze these developments and the potential impact for African American men.
11:30 - 12:30 PM: Developing Treatment Trends and the Implications For Patients
A new generation of prostate cancer care is being shaped through major new developments underway including new drugs, imaging technology, molecular and genetic testings and more. An overview of these developing trends and the implications for patients will be presented.

1:30 - 4:00 PM: Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials Rally Update Report
An update on PHEN's Clinical Trials Rally with an insightful look at the journey of some successful trials and how they are now benefiting patients. An analysis of the different classes of trials including a review of certain trials will also be presented during this session.

PHEN's faith-based community outreach initiatives are now recognized as the broadest and most effective prostate cancer education and awareness efforts focused on African American communities. This session will present results of these church partnership initiatives and outline plans and strategies for 2019.
11:00 - 11:45 AM: The "Daddy's Boys" Infotainment Initiative Review and Plans
The "Daddy's Boys" stage play was launched in 2018 before enthusiastic audiences of 1000+ for some performances. Audience surveys show this as a highly effective outreach approach to attract, educate and mobilize African American communities around prostate cancer as never before done. A review of the initial results of this new initiative with plans and strategies for 2019 will be presented.
