SENSR President Walt Bleser Invited to Speak

SENSR Presents at KU Structural Engineering Conference

The University of Kansas (KU) Structural Engineering Conference is a significant event for those of us that work in structural engineering. For 62 years, this conference has brought together nearly 500 of the best and brightest from our industry for a day of discussion around the latest topics and solutions. This year, SENSR President Walt Bleser had the pleasure of presenting at the KU Structural Engineering Conference.

The conference has two tracks, one for buildings and another for bridges. Many of the presentations highlighted extremely large projects that many of us only get a chance work on once in a career. SENSR's presentation, entitled "The Use of Technology for Monitoring Adjacent Construction Influences," focused on two case studies that were very relatable to everyone in the room.

With the increase in popularity of Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques, a type of construction the railroads have been doing for decades, the goal was to educate the audience as follows:
  • Understand the effect of adjacent construction on existing bridge foundations.
  • Learn effective monitoring techniques for adjacent bridge construction.
  • Provide considerations for incorporating a monitoring program into accelerated bridge construction (ABC) projects.
SENSR was honored to be a part of this conference, and we look forward to attending in 2018. For a more personal take on this presentation, read Walt's latest LinkedIn Pulse article.
