SWACCA Participates in White House
Workforce Training Event

Washington, D.C. (July 20, 2018) - Leadership of the Signatory Wall and Ceiling Contractors Alliance (SWACCA) joined other national trade associations at the White House for a Presidential event on workforce training. As part of the event, SWACCA pledged that it would provide at least 50,000 people high-quality career training opportunities over the next five years through the joint labor-management training programs that SWACCA members help to fund with their union partners. This pledge was part of today's announcement by the President to provide pathways to better careers for 500,000 Americans.

CARPENTER'S UPDATE
Executive Director Rick Alampi spoke with Bill Sproule, whose new title is Assistant  Executive Secretary-Treasurer, Keystone Mountain Lakes Regional Council of Carpenters, about changes in the union since the merger of the Northeast Council with the Keystone and Mountain Lakes Council. Sproule stated that Melissa Lund, in the Edison office (732-471-9229), should be DISCA members' contact for questions about procedures, process or problems. He noted that NJ has been split into north and south regions (previously it was just the entire state) and that Pete Gowing has been promoted to Northern Region Manager and Bruce Garganio has been promoted to Southern Region Manager. Sproule now works out of the Philadelphia office.  A meeting is being planned to have a representative from the union address DISCA members and to provide opportunities to ask any questions directly to the representative.
