We have such a giving community!   July was designated as "Teacher Appreciation Month".  The month was set aside to collect supplies for our 200 Jasper County teachers in addition to families that need extra support this time of the year.

    The Chamber of Commerce, Jasper County Leadership Class of 2017, Mercy Love & Joy, Monticello Drugs,  Mingle with a Purpose (hosted by Southern Edge Realty, Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by TSM Contractors, Bulldog Gym, Insurance Warehouse, and Element Funding).

     Plus the clubs, organizations, community members who brought money and items to help FILL THE WINDOW.    Over $1,400.00 in monetary donations were made and hundreds of items donated.

     The purpose was to collect classroom items for the teachers of Jasper County which will benefit the children of Jasper County. Items such as facial tissues, plastic zip bags, hand sanitizer, clean-up wipes, crayons, colored pencils, markers, and glue are used throughout the school year.

     The items were sorted and packaged by the JCHS FBLA.  Items will be distributed to the Jasper County Charter System, Piedmont Academy and Shiloh Christian School teachers.

Our 2018-2019 Deer Festival Queen is off to college!  She will be attending Middle Georgia State University in Macon.  Mekia (Taylor) accepted her $500.00 scholarship that was donated to the Deer Festival Pageant Scholarship Fund by Norton Packaging.

Presenting Mekia the scholarship check was Chamber of Commerce Board Member, Towonder Dennis.

Exciting News!  The 2019-2020 Deer Festival Pageant will be hosted and sponsored by the Historical Foundation and will be held at Thomas Persons Hall on Sunday, October 28th.

Katie attended the Annual Georgia On My Mind Day on July 13th at the Augusta, Georgia State Welcome Center.

This event is to promote each community in the state and/or region.   Tourists were given a Jasper County information/brochure packet.

Pam spoke to the Turtle Cove Woman's Club during their July monthly meeting about the local happenings along with the future plans and goals.
