Sales of certain items are exempt during a five-day period in August 2018. The temporary exemption period, referred to as a sales tax holiday, will begin on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, and continue through Sunday, August 5, 2018.

During the Sales Tax Holiday, purchases of these items are not taxable:

  • Clothing - sales price of each item must be $75 or less
  • Computer purchased by a consumer for their personal use – sales price of each computer must be $750 or less
  • School computer supplies purchased by the consumer for their personal use – sales price of each item must be $250 or less
  • School supplies – sales price of each item must be $75 or less
August is National Family Fun Month!
Each year, Family Fun Month is celebrated throughout the month of August. It is the opportune time to enjoy family with extra fun and activities.
Use your imagination, spend time together and have fun !! Post on social media using #FamilyFunMonth to encourage others to join in.

A child's development is unique and complex. Although children develop through a generally predictable sequence of steps and milestones, they may not proceed through these steps in the same way or at the same time. A child's development is greatly influenced by factors in his or her environment and the experiences he or she has.

Door County Library Summer Reading Program

 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
To participate:
  • read with your young child
  • color a shape for each book read
  • come in to receive a sticker from the library for each page of 100 books
  • put a sticker on the fish at the library for each page finished
  • complete 1000 books and receive a book as the final prize

Keeping Door County Children Safe
NetSmartz Workshop is an interactive, educational program of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children ®  (NCMEC) that provides age-appropriate resources to help teach children how to be safer on- and offline. The program is designed for children ages 5-17, parents and guardians, educators, and law enforcement. With resources such as videos, games, activity cards, and presentations, NetSmartz entertains while it educates.
Goals
  • Educate children on how to recognize potential Internet risks
  • Engage children and adults in a two-way conversation about on- and offline risks
  • Empower children to help prevent themselves from being exploited and to report victimization to a trusted adult
