Dear IDEOM Stakeholders,

We are excited to announce that the 2021 Annual Meeting will be taking place October 22 - 23, 2021.IDEOM looks forward to continuing our mission to strive for the establishment of patient-centric outcomes to enhance the research and treatment of dermatological conditions.

IDEOM workgroups are moving to GOOGLE GROUPS! Workgroup members will be able to keep in touch with each other on any projects, meetings or surveys. Keep an eye out for an invitation coming to your email soon!

Stay tuned for updates on innovative new projects within the HS Workgroup including a patient-led initiative, scarring, musculoskeletal symptoms, and more.

Below is a prayer that I would like to share from my synagogue’s prayer book. I have adapted it because I believe it captures the inclusive and welcoming spirit of IDEOM.

REQUEST FOR APPLICATION - HS GRANT

PURPOSE

IDEOM is seeking grant applications that encourage research into the disease hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). The goal is to stimulate the development of new research programs in the field of HS capable of competing for long-term funding from the National Institutes of Health or other agencies in the future.

NUMBER OF AWARDS

2 grants will be awarded in 2021. Awards are contingent upon the availability of funds and the receipt of sufficiently meritorious applications.

BUDGET

Applicants may request up to $50,000 (direct costs only) per year.

ELIGIBILITY

The principal investigator must be personally and actively be responsible for the conduct of the proposed research, and eligible to apply for research grants under the guidelines of the applicant’s host institution. IDEOM does not fund projects that are part of the NIH intramural research program or awards to private foundations without an academic affiliation to dermatology.

OTHER EVENTS IN DERMATOLOGY

IFPA World Conference

The World Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis Conference is an established scientific conference organized by IFPA. It presents the latest developments in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis research. Because medical professionals from both the dermatology and rheumatology field attend, the conference provides a unique cross-specialty forum. Delegates can explore the psoriasis disease from different perspectives by networking with patients and industry representatives in attendance. Since 2006, we have organized the World Conference every third year. The latest conference drew over 1,100 delegates from across the world. Our aim with the World Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis Conference is to:

Increase global recognition of the psoriasis disease and its severity;
Unite psoriasis stakeholders, to strengthen international collaboration;
Share the latest scientific and clinical developments on psoriasis;
Encourage new research projects;
Highlight the patient perspective, so that the conference will ultimately improve living conditions for the international psoriasis community.

Making the most of the uncertain times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to turn the 6th World Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis Conference into a fully virtual meeting. This new format will facilitate participation for everyone in our community, no matter where in the world you are based and no one will be affected by national travel bans.

The conference theme is CONNECTED, INFORMED, and UNITED to improve multidisciplinary care for people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
