Welcome to the newest edition of the Cornerstones enewsletter. The BACnet International community benefits from information and education shared through Cornerstones, the organization's monthly electronic publication. This publication is disseminated to members of the BACnet community, connecting corporate, integrator, site, student and individual end users.

Cornerstones is a unique publication because it speaks not only to the engineer and contractor communities, but also to facility professionals, building managers and owners, and other personnel.
This is where you come in. We need you to connect! If there is a best practice, company news, product news or BACnet Success Story you want to share, please send them to us. And don't leave out the photos!

All submissions should be sent to Kathleen Magee , BACnet International's Marketing Manager.

20th Annual PlugFest a Great Success!

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the PlugFest Interoperability event. The workshop took place September 10th - 12th, 2019 at The University of New Hampshire's InterOperability Lab in Durham, NH.

There were 75 attendees from 35 companies representing six countries who came together to test their products with other BACnet vendors. They were able to validate the interoperability of their products and identify potential costly implementation errors prior to installation.
Steve Jones , Managing Partner
The S4 Group
"During the testing process we confirmed proper operation with most of the BACnet clients we tested against. As is typical for PlugFest, we identified a few areas where our S4 Open: BACnet-N2 Router could be improved. Some of these items are minor bugs, others will be scheduled as enhancements for a future release. We also assisted our testing partners in either validating proper operation of their products or identifying areas where they needed to improve. It is always a mutually beneficial process. The environment facilitated at PlugFest is that everyone adheres to a strict non-disclosure policy that does not allow anyone to publicize issues found in other manufacturer’s products. This promotes a productive and cooperative environment that generates positive results for everyone involved."
Educational Sessions
Along with testing, there were two educational sessions conducted at PlugFest which covered BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet S/C) and Test Package 16.0. BACnet S/C enhances the BACnet standard to provide IT-friendly, secure communications while eliminating the need for broadcast messages. The Test Package session focused on the activities of the volunteers and staff working on defining test packages that the BTL test facilities utilize to confirm that submitted products adhere to the BACnet standard

Don't miss the chance to improve your testing and implementation methods by joining us at next year's event.

Dates for the 2020 PlugFest event will be released soon.
