"Southern Idaho's Labor Market and  New  Apprenticeship Program"

Busines Plus held its Second Quarter Meeting on May 10th at the Burley Inn Best Western. Connie Stopher, Executive Director of SIEDO, spoke about SIEDO's focus on recruiting talent to our region. Jan Roeser, Idaho Department of Labor Economist, presented regional statistics including jobs and population growth. Chet Jeppeson, Idaho Department of Labor Workforce Consultant, eplained the partnerships that makes up their new Apprenticeship Program.  We welcomed Jon Zielinski  from Dow Chemical and heard about the company's products and operations. Connecting with Veterans

SIEDO is helping businesses connect with veterans looking for civilian careers. With the help of  Senator Mike Crapo's office, SIEDO is partnering with the Idaho National Laboratory and the Idaho Department of Labor along with veteran service experts Airman & Family Readiness Center (Mountain Home AFB) and the Idaho Division of Veterans Services to educate business about hiring veternas.  SIEDO's staff plans to coninue attending veteran recruitment events across the region.  Thank you to the INL and McCain Foods for supporting Business Plus and SIEDO in focusing on veteran recruitment.
