Hello MACV supporter,
As we all celebrated another year of freedom in the United States this month, MACV was out in the public involved in numerous events sharing our mission to end Veteran homelessness in Minnesota. MACV employees were creating new partnerships with Veteran organizations and other Minnesota events. We love sharing the stories of camaraderie and fellowship at events like the Princeton Moving Wall,
where MACV provided many of our typical Stand Down services to Veterans who attended.
MACV was “front and center” at both the Twins and Saints military appreciation games this month, where we told the story of our new home being built with Lennar and the Builders Association of the Twin Cities Foundation in Maplewood.
The momentum at MACV continues to build as MACV was recently awarded a grant to assist Veterans in Greater Minnesota with employment, which is one of our 3 main pillars of assistance. Employment is critical to maintaining housing and this grant will allow us to further support the employment needs of our Veterans.
MACV is hosting its first Stand Down event at Target Center next month on August 14th. If you are interested in volunteering at the event, please respond to this email and you will be contacted to be added to the volunteer list.
Thank you for continuing to be a MACV supporter and sharing our mission with Veterans and those who support Veterans.

Kinzler Insulates House for Homeless Female Veterans
|
|
Earlier this spring, Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans teamed up with Kinzler’s building partner, Lennar Minnesota and BATC-Housing First Minnesota, to break ground on a home that will house female veterans – a population that is in serious need. Kinzler partnered with insulation supplier Johns-Manville, donating material and time to install batt insulation, spray foam around the rim joists and blow-in insulation in the attic. The five-bedroom home located in Maplewood, MN is scheduled to be completed in August. #KinzlerCares #WeInsulateYou #Veterans #HelpingHeroes

North Region
Princeton Stand Down
|
|
|
MACV North partnered with the Princeton community and local Veteran partners during the Vietnam Moving Wall’s visit to the Mille Lacs county fairgrounds to offer a mini Stand Down of veteran resources. Over 40 providers were present on July 5
th
to share what resources are available for Veterans. Because the Princeton Stand Down was held in conjunction with the Vietnam Moving Wall, people had the opportunity to pay their respects and learn about the many benefits available for Veterans. We are very proud of our partnerships throughout Minnesota and this was no exception.

This year, our North office team provided outreach at the Duluth Air Show to show support for our Veterans and raise awareness about our mission to end Veteran homelessness in Minnesota. The United States Air Force Thunderbirds headlined the event along with a host of other world class performers!

Minnesota Veterans Career Fair
This year, MACV was a service provider at the 12th Annual Minnesota Veterans Career Fair. Leading up to the Career Fair, was a great segment on Minnesota Military Radio featuring a wonderful partner to MACV, the Director at the Office of Veterans Employment Programs, Mr. Jim Finley. A critical component to supporting our Veterans is through access to employment and MACV is glad to partner with great agencies to help our Veterans achieve self sufficiency.

Little girl donates lemonade stand money to help homeless Veterans!
Rachel Barth is almost six years old and raised $65 from her two day lemonade stand. She decided to donate to MACV because "they fought for America to help America's team win." How amazing is this little girl!! The
news station KIMT
was there to capture this wonderful moment! Thank you Rachel for your kindness and generosity.

After a corporate downsizing a few years ago, I gave some thought to what I truly wanted to do in a new career. I made the decision that I wanted to work, in some capacity, in the service of veterans. As a retired First Sergeant from the Minnesota Army National Guard, I realized that I was at my best when I worked in the service of soldiers. Working with MACV gives me the opportunity to work within my strongest skill sets, and be able to demonstrate compassion and understanding with homeless veterans, and veterans who are struggling in difficult circumstances.
I am a lifetime Duluth area resident, graduated with a business degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and have worked most of my civilian career in pharmaceutical sales. Also, during this time, I served over 20 years in the Minnesota Army National Guard; 2-194 Armor Battalion. I am married to my wife, Deb, and we have three adult children.
I spent many years coaching my kids in hockey and soccer, and now am looking forward to spending more time hunting, golfing, and downhill skiing. I am very excited to join the team at MACV, and provide service to veterans in Duluth and St. Louis County.
