Bullock Named as Superintendent Finalist

Robin Bullock has been named as the lone finalist for the Allen ISD superintendent of schools post. Bullock was named as Allen ISD’s acting superintendent in October
when Dr. Scott Niven retired from the position
. Following the state required waiting period, the Board will take official action on naming the superintendent on January 22, 2020.
Bullock has served as Allen ISD deputy superintendent and assistant superintendent since 2013. She previously served as the deputy superintendent for Midlothian ISD as well as the interim superintendent. She also held positions as assistant middle school principal, elementary school principal, middle school principal and director of personnel for Midlothian ISD.
She began her education career as a 7
th
grade language arts teacher and coach in Red Oak ISD in 1995. She also taught language arts and coached in Eufaula, Alabama and Duncanville before joining the Midlothian ISD staff in 2000.

Parent Reminder: Early Release Day
|
|
Friday, December 20 is an early release school day on the 2019-20 school calendar. All schools will start at their regular time. Elementary schools will release students at 12 p.m. Middle school campuses will close at 12:30 p.m. and both the Lowery Freshman Center and Allen High School will release students at 1 p.m. Elementary schools will serve lunch and secondary schools will have lunch options. Students Shine In Eagle Minute Videos

|
The Allen ISD Public Information Department has been shining a light on our many talented students with a series called The Eagle Minute. The segments, which are actually about two minutes long, focus on individual Allen ISD students demonstrating their unique skills and interests.
The most recent segment follows Julia Gorthey, an Allen High School senior whose diverse interests include Civil Air Patrol, robotics and Tae Kwan Do.

Stafford Wins State Principal Award
|
|
Jill Stafford, Lowery Freshman Center principal, has been named as the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) Outstanding Principal of the Year. She was previously named the Region X candidate for the award.
TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the 20 regional Education Service Centers in the state.
School administrators are nominated and chosen by peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.
Stafford has been principal of Lowery Freshman Center for the past seven years. She also served as a house and associate principal at Allen High School, with a total of 27 total years of experience in education.

eaturing more than 20 hit Queen songs, WE WILL ROCK YOU School Edition follows two revolutionaries as they try to save Rock in a post apocalyptic world. Featured songs include “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Killer Queen,” “We Will Rock You,” “Somebody To Love,” “We Are The Champions,” “Don’t Stop Me Now” and many more.

Eagle Run Set For February 29
|
The 12th Annual Allen Eagle Run will be held on Saturday, February 29 at Eagle Stadium.
As with previous years, the event will feature both a 1 mile Fun Run and a certified 5K Run. Hosted by the Foundation For Allen Schools and the Allen Council of PTAs, the event is expected to draw nearly 4,000 runners in 2020.
The start/finish line and all other activities will take place outside Eagle Stadium in the East parking lot. Designed for families and serious runners alike, the Allen Eagle Run also includes an activity area with merchant booths offering food and drink samples, games, prizes, photo opportunities and giveaways.

The latest issue of SOAR Magazine is now available online.
The Winter issue features stories about the award winning Curtis Middle School Orchestra, the high school of the future in 2000, a visually impaired student who marched with the Escadrille this fall and the story behind Curtis Middle School namesakes Walter and Lois Curtis.
