Educators and all school personnel are mandated reporters. We have the ability to be on the forefront of advocating and protecting all our students as any suspicion of child abuse and neglect constitutes a report. The Center for Disease Control reports that last year 1 in 7 children experienced abuse/neglect. In this especially difficult season, let us be diligent. We can also provide extra support to our students and their families during this time by checking in, identifying needs and linking to community resources, and working with supports in place within your district to meet families needs.
