Stewardship
Our stewardship campaign this year coincides with important milestones in the life of our parish. We have just celebrated our 40 th anniversary and have welcomed a new Rector. In our search for a new Rector we were guided by the clear message from our members that they wanted a leader that could take us to new heights in service and outreach to our community. We are asking for your help to ensure that we have the funds available to take us to this new level. Our finance committee has projected that we will need an additional 25% in pledge income in 2020 to meet our needs. We are blessed to have so many members who are faithful with their pledges. If you currently pledge, we hope you will prayerfully consider your ability to increase your pledge for 2020. If you do not currently pledge, we ask that you prayerfully consider doing so. We currently have over 80 pledges with a goal to increase that to over 100 in 2020. Please join us as we begin our next 40 years.

“Prayers of the People” for all those touched by cancer, Sunday, October 20
The third Sunday in October marks the anniversary of a meaningful Sunday when many of us stood together in support of those struggling with cancer and especially our dear friend, John Wysock. Again this year we will be using a special “Prayers of the People” for all those touched by cancer – either personally or someone close to them. An invitation is extended to anyone who would like to read one or more lines of these prayers. (both 8:00 and 10:30 am services). If you are interested, instructions will be announced at the appropriate time.

A diocesan ministry to homeless women
Help us take panties to the diocesan Convention! Rahab’s Sisters, is asking parishes to bring to Convention (October 25-26) new underpants and socks. MDE has offered to match funds to $500 for purchasing this underwear! Please make your gifts by check to MDE for Rahab’s Sisters and leave it in the plate or mail to the office. Thanks for thinking about this: everyone should feel warm, dry, and accepted by people of God. For more information talk to Mary Kirk or Richard Martens.

October 26, 4:00 pm for an October Fest Celebration , hosted by your Hospitality and Stewardship Ministries.

All Souls’ Day
All Souls’ Day is Saturday, November 2 . It will be celebrated at St. Francis with a quiet reflective service when candles are lit, and our loved ones, the saints in our lives, are remembered. The service is at 5:00 pm and will be followed by a champagne and truffle reception. There will be pink sheets available for you to submit the names of your loved ones who have died, and whom you wish to have remembered on All Souls’ Day.

On Sunday, November 10 , we will honor Veterans’ Day at St. Francis by small flags on the gravesites of veterans interred in the Memorial Gardens. We were wondering if there is a veteran in our church family who would like to place the flags??? Susan Cheever has the names and locations. Please contact her or me if you would like to take part.
Thank you. Jane Domagalski
