Share Your Thoughts on Grow
It's been more than a decade since Grow first launched, and we hope we can keep going for another decade and more. But to do this in the best way possible, we need your guidance.

We want you, our readers, to help us decide how the magazine develops and evolves. If you'd like to have a hand in shaping the future of Grow, please take a few minutes to respond to our short online survey.

Need extra motivation? Anyone who completes the questionnaire can be entered in a drawing for a free gift box of Babcock Hall cheese!

CALS Alumni in the News

Andrea Brossard FISC'01 BS'05, a dairy science major who has been farming full time since 2015, was featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for her efforts to improve communication between farmers and consumers through personal visits to farmers' markets.

And the USDA's Fence Post spotlighted Terri Wilfert BS'84. Wilfert and her husband, David, produce vegetables on just under 700 acres in Manitowoc County, where Terri serves on the local Farm Service Agency Committee and acts as a vital link between the agricultural community and the USDA.

Thank You for Your Support!

Around 600 CALS alumni took advantage of a generous match challenge from an anonymous donor by making gifts in support of the college. Our kind donor matched up to $50,000 in gifts made to the CALS Fund this spring and summer.

Although the matching opportunity has ended, you can still give to the CALS FundYour gift, large or small, makes a positive impact on students and helps the college remain strong.
UW Working for Wisconsin

Did you know that UW-Madison accepts two out of three in-state applicants? That's right. And even though the university receives about 10,000 more applications than it did a decade ago, it isn't any more difficult for today's in-state students to get in.

This is just one of many common misperceptions about UW's admissions, affordability, and employment of graduates that the new Working for Wisconsin campaign is looking to correct.

We'll share a new fact with you here each month. You can also visit the Working for Wisconsin website now to learn more for yourself. Please feel free to share widely and help us bust those myths!
Correction

In the July 2018 issue of CALS Connection, we mentioned the names of alumni who are members of the family that hosted Wisconsin Farm Technology Days 2018. However, we inadvertently omitted Scott Sternweiss BS'08. We apologize for the error.
