Mid-Fall Greetings NENSA Community!

So much going on in the next few weeks, and its only October! Just a sampling of what our NENSA staffers have been working on for you this month (in addition to our amazing winter line-up!)

This Saturday 10/12 is the Rossignol FreeFall rollerski race in Jericho VT. On-line registration closes at 5pm Thursday 10/10 . Register today on SkiReg.com . Full info on this race can be found HERE . This race is part of our NENSA High Peaks Cyclery Rollerski Race Series.

On Sunday 10/27 NENSA will be hosting the LL Bean Maine Event, at the Pineland Campus in New Gloucester ME ~ This is the second running of an open Rollerski Cross Country Cross event in the world. This exciting summer version of Cross Country Cross (XCX) builds on aspects of both sprinting and agility. New for 2019, the rollerski event will be preceded by a 5k run on the ski trails at Pineland Farms, as well as a learn to rollerski clinic. US Ski & Snowboard US Junior Nationals will be here before we know it. Team New England/NENSA has put the call out for both age group coaches and wax techs. We like to take a mix of both experienced coaches and techs, along with a few up and coming newer coaches and techs as well. Please consider applying for our trip, which will be Saturday March 7th to Sunday March 15th, in Truckee CA this year! See box below for more information and a link to our staffing application (due 10/31).

Next Up in the
NENSA’s High Peaks Cyclery Rollerski Series: 

Rossignol Free Fall - October 12
On-line Registration closes 5pm Thursday 10/10

ROSSIGNOL , New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA),  Mansfield Nordic Club , and  High Peaks Cyclery  (HPC) invite Rollerskiers to a Freestyle rollerski competition in Jericho, VT October 12th.  

This is the third event of the  NENSA HPC Rollerski Series. Overall winners of the Free Fall will receive $200 cash prize from Groupe ROSSIGNOL. Top seeded athletes will use NENSA’s fleet of matched Swenor skis. 

The  Free Fall  is hosted on a closed course at the Ethan Allen Rollerski Track. Men (U18 and older) will ski a three lap 12km, while Women and U16 Boys will complete two laps for 8km. 

New for 2019  - immediately following the distance races there will be a Cross Country Cross Sprint (XCX): competitors will ski two timed laps of a feature-filled XCX course! Top 3 finishers in each race receive 30, 20, and 10 bonus seconds, respectively, that will be deducted from their Free Fall race time and determine overall rankings for the NENSA High Peaks Cyclery Rollerski Race Series. This is a spectator event that is a lot of fun, so bring your friends, your skis and get rolling!

It’s that time of year! NENSA is looking to build the coach and tech staff for the 2020 Junior Nationals to be held March 7th – 15th in Truckee, California.   Submit an application on our google form here.

Help support New England Juniors in their quest for individual and divisional success. We are looking for team players, both wily veterans and aspiring coaches, to create a fun and focused staff. Please direct any questions to   justin@nensa.net

SafeSport Program
U.S. Ski & Snowboard, our National Governing Body (NGB) requires the following individuals complete training provided by the U.S. Center for SafeSport:

Individuals associated with Member Clubs (that means any NENSA club)

  • Adult athlete members of Member Clubs, except Short Term Athlete Members due to their limited participation and Master Athletes who do not i) have regular contact with minor athletes or ii) have authority over minor athletes
  • Adult members (who are not athletes) of Member Clubs who i) have regular contact with athletes, or ii) have authority over athletes
  • Employees and Board Members of Member Clubs
  • Individuals providing services to Member Clubs, including but not limited to contractors, volunteers, interns, who i) have regular contact with athletes or ii) have authority over athletes

NENSA urges ALL New England coaches, parent volunteers, venue volunteers and anyone working with youth to take the SafeSport on-line course and get certified. 3-time World Championship medalist will use S/LAB Carbon skis and boots for the upcoming season
ANNECY, FRANCE –  After an historic 2018-19 World Cup season in which its team achieved 93 world cup podiums and 7 athletes were crowned World Champions, Salomon Nordic added yet another top-level World Cup athlete to its team when Norwegian cross-country skier Finn-Hågen Krogh agreed to use Salomon skis, boots and bindings for the upcoming season. The three-time world championship medalist recently spent a week testing Salomon equipment and shared his excitement to join the team.
